Chapter 44-1

Chance’s POV

+25 Points

I was just getting ready to take Raven home, when Cash came flying up our lane in his truck with Mazie in the passenger seat. He barely put the truck in park before he jumped out, racing towards us. By the look on his face, I knew that he had found something, but I never imagined that it would have been Josie’s body in the cemetery.

As Cash and I discussed the details of what they had found, Raven moved to Mazie, comforting her, as it was clear that Mazie was in a state of shock from what they had discovered.

After hearing enough from Cash, knowing what needed to be done, I pulled Raven to the side and said to her, “Mazie’s parents are out of town on business. I don’t think that she should be

alone.”

“No, I agree. She can stay with me as long as she needs to.”

Moving towards Cash’s truck, I pulled Mazie into an embrace, as I whispered into her ear, “I am sorry for the loss of your friend, but I need you to be strong right now and protect your Luna to be. I told Raven that your parents were out of town for business and that you shouldn’t be alone. I need you to stay with her until we find the rogue responsible for this. Can you do that for me?”

Mazie shook her head, and I knew what I was asking of her was a lot, especially in her state right now, but I knew her being with Raven was the best thing for her too. Neither of the girls needed to be alone right now, and it would give me a piece of mind, knowing that they would be there for each other.

Handing Raven the keys to my truck, I told her to take Mazie straight to her house, and that I would check in on her after we went to the authorities with their findings. Thankfully, Raven didn’t question my wishes, as she knew somewhat of the severity of the situation that we

had at hand.

With Raven and Mazie now on their way to her house, I knew that it was time that I finally enlightened our father about the rogue Alpha. In a way, I knew that he was going to be disappointed in me for not coming to him in the first place, but I hoped that he could overlook my misjudgment by showing him what Cash had discovered.

Through our mind link, I called out to our father, telling him to meet me at the cemetery, before I reached out to Chase, knowing that he needed to be there for this too. Jumping into Cash’s truck, the two of us headed back to the cemetery to meet our father, as I began to

When Cash and I pulled up to the gates of the cemetery, our father was just arriving himself, with Beta Alex by his side. As we got out of the truck, our father said to me, “This had better be good, because I need to get back to trying to track down Josie.”

Cash and I both looked to the ground, knowing that our father had high hopes of finding her alive, but unfortunately, we were the ones that had to bear the bad news to him, that she was

no longer with us.

“I think it’s best if we show you.” Cash says, speaking up, as neither of us wanted to be the one to tell our father, without him seeing it for himself.

“Alright then.” My father said, before we all began to follow Cash deep within the cemetery, past where I had found Chase earlier today, while I wondered where the hell he was, knowing that he should be here right now with us.

My father remained silent until the smell of death became present in the air, making him say to us, “Please tell me its not Josie.”

Unfortunately, we couldn’t tell him what he wanted to hear, and as Cash moved around three tall headstones bearing our family’s surname, Josie’s mauled body lay leaning against the furthest one.
