Chapter 47-2
“He wanted to remind me of our date tonight.” I said to her before I thought about it, making me turn to look at her, before I asked her, “Are you going to be okay tonight without me? I can cancel our date, if not.”
“No, go. I will be fine. I have to work at the Diner tonight anyhow.”
“Are you sure?” I asked her once again, thinking that it was inconsiderate of me not to think about her and her well-being after everything that she had been through this week.
Pushing off the locker next to mine, Mazie places her hand on my shoulder before she says to me, “Raven, I am fine. Besides, I think my parents are coming home tonight. If it makes you feel any better, I will have Cash take me home from the Diner tonight.”
I don’t know why at that moment I felt a pinch of jealousy, thinking about her being with Cash, but I did, and I really needed to get over the feelings I was having towards him, if I was going to make this work between his brother and me. Being away from them the past couple of days, it had given me time to think about them both, and I realized that I couldn’t have my cake and eat it too. I knew that it wasn’t right for me to have feelings towards them both, and I had talked myself into trying to keep my distance from being alone with Cash, so that the feelings I had for him couldn’t flourish more than they already had.
“What’s wrong?” Mazie asks me, obviously seeing the look of jealousy on my face, making me quickly shake the look away, before I say to her, “Nothing is wrong, and yes, I would feel better knowing that Cash was with you.”
“Then it is settled. You have nothing to worry about. Just go and have a good time with Chance. The two of you really need this.”
Mazie was right, we really did need this time together, as it felt like we hadn’t gotten to see each other all week. To be honest, I had been missing going out to the ranch and spending time there with the family, especially spending time in the kitchen with their grandmother. Even though their family was somewhat dysfunctional, it was still a family, and that was something I truly missed having myself, but being there I felt like I was a part of their family.
“Whose phone is ringing?” Mazie asked as she turned back towards the lockers, trying to pinpoint where the ringing was coming from, as I pulled my lock off my locker.
As I opened the door to my locker, I froze when the sound of the ringing got louder, and my eyes instantly moved to my phone sitting at the bottom of my locker.
“I guess you didn’t leave your phone in the library like you thought you had.” Mazie says, peering over my shoulder into my locker, as the warning bell rang for our first period class.

Shoving my backpack into the locker, I grabbed my English book and handed it to her, before I said to her, “I need to use the restroom before class. Can you let the teacher know?”
“Sure.” She said to me now with a questioning look on her face, before I grabbed my phone and placed it in my back pocket, and headed straight to the bathroom, wondering how the hell it had gotten into my locker.
Locking myself into one of the stalls, I pulled my phone out, leaning against the wall, as I looked at my home screen seeing all my missed calls, but that wasn’t what I was interested in seeing right now. Hitting the photo icon, pulling up my photo gallery onto my screen, I went straight to the last photo that was taken on my phone. Instead of it being one of the pictures of the headstones that I knew I had taken, it was a picture of Mazie and me in my room, a picture that I had taken yesterday morning before school.
“What the hell?” I said to myself, as I quickly looked in my deleted photos hoping that they were still there, but the photos of the headstones were wiped completely from my phone.
Shutting my phone off, I leaned my head back against the stall, as I closed my eyes, thinking none of this made a bit of sense to me. Whoever found my phone had to have erased the photos from it, and then they had to have known where my locker was. Plus, there was the fact that they somehow got into my locker, even with a lock on it, making me think about how crazy and unrealistic it all sounded, but there was no other explanation for it.
Just as I thought I was losing my mind, the door to the bathroom opened, making me put my phone in my back pocket, as I peered through the small slit in the door, to see Jessica and her friend walking into the bathroom.
“I’m going to lose my mind with this damn curfew. Has Chase said anything about whether they are close to tracking this rogue wolf down?”
Jessica peered into the mirror, fixing her lipstick with the tip of her finger, before she said to her, “Unfortunately, I haven’t seen or heard from Chase all week. I am sure that it’s because
his father has him right by his side tracking the rogue, since it was Chase and not his brothers that had saved the school from the rogue attacking one of us.”
My eyebrows furrowed together, as I wondered what the hell she was talking about, as Chase was nowhere in sight when the rogue wolf attacked me. The only brother that was there was Cash, and he was the only one that had witnessed the rogue, besides Mazie and me. As for someone chasing the rogue wolf off the school property, that would have been the other wolf that had come to my rescue, but it was clear that Jessica was trying to make Chase look better than his brothers in front of her friend.
” guess you picked the right brother.”

“Did you ever doubt me?” Jessica asked her, before the two of them walked towards the door, as I stood there biting my tongue, knowing it would only cause more problems than it was worth, but I would be damned if she was going to let Chase take credit for saving the school.
