Chapter 53-1
Chance’s POV
Man, did I owe Cash one for the idea of bringing Raven here on our first date. Everything that I thought of doing with her just sounded so lame, but when he suggested I take her dancing, I’m not going to lie. I was apprehensive, but damn, I never thought about how close I’d be able to be with her all night.
There was only one problem with it though, and that was, I was losing my damn mind trying to control my desire for her, especially when she swayed those damn hips of hers, grinding that perfect little body of hers against mine. It was almost like having a strip tease without the happy ending, causing me to need a break from her for a moment to collect myself.
As I stood at the bar ordering our drinks, I couldn’t take my eyes off her, as she continued to dance on the dance floor by herself, making my heart skip a beat with each sway of her hips. The mate bond was humming in full effect tonight, more intense than previously, but it was obvious why it was growing stronger than ever.
Raven had a mere week left before she became of age, and of all the damn weekends for it to happen, it had to be the weekend that I had the most important business meeting of my life. For months now, I have been working on a business agreement with Alpha Zane from
Freedom Port that would secure the export of our horses to overseas buyers. It was something my father had always dreamed of doing but never had the connections to do so.
Thankfully, I met Alpha Zane when my father insisted that I go in his place to an Alpha conference a few years back after my mother had passed. Alpha Zane was young, only a few years older than me, when he was forced to take over as Alpha for his father, due to a tragic illness that eventually took his father’s life.
I wanted to believe that it was fate that had brought us together that day, but unfortunately, I knew that it ultimately was the loss of a parent that did. Both of us were still grieving, and somehow, we could sense that in each other, and it drew us together, ending in a friendship
that both of us needed at the time.
Now I was hoping that it would lead us to a partnership, one that my pack needed so desperately, to secure the prosperity of my pack during my reign as head Alpha. But it wasn’t the only thing I now needed to secure that weekend, as I needed to secure Raven as my mate and Luna, putting even more pressure on the table for me.
“Hey there handsome. I haven’t seen you in here, before.” A vixen of a woman said in a seductive voice, stepping in front of me, blocking my view of Raven, as her dirty little fingers moved to my shirt, fixing my collar, before I could stop her.

Batting her eyelashes at me, she now says, “My place is right around the corner. Why don’t the two of us get out of here, and I can show you what a real she wolf is.” As she began to slide her hand down my chest.
Reaching, I grabbed her wrist, pulling her hand away from my chest, as I said to her, “I have a mate.” Thinking that would be enough to make her walk away, but she didn’t.
Instead, it did quite the opposite, as she now leans into me and says, “I don’t kiss and tell.” While she rolls her tongue, and her free hand grabs my junk, giving it a slight squeeze.
A growl rumbled from my chest, not because I was enjoying her touch, but because I repulsed it, and was getting annoyed. “I told you I have a mate.” I firmly said to her, as I forcefully let go of her wrist, before swatting her hand away from me.
“Fine, it’s your loss.” She said before she turned away from me, moving to the next guy she thought she could conquer for the night.
