**TRINITY’S POV**
I heard my door open and I managed to lift my head slightly but my eyes were still practically swollen shut. I smelt the alcohol almost straight away, so I knew that it was Spencer who had
walked in.
He came over to the side of my bed, knowing that I was too weak to fight back so he could do
whatever he wanted tonight.
was scared, not that he would have been able to tell. My head fell back on my pillow, not having
enough strength to even hold it up for too long.
But after a second, I knew that he was going to do what he was going to do. And it wasn’t the first
time that he had done it.
Just as he got to my bed and I heard his belt buckle, someone rang the doorbell.
I
Spencer turned to look at my door and I heard him swearing under his breath and sounding
extremely pissed off right now.
But he left my room and he stumbled down the stairs to open the front door.
I was trying to listen, but my hearing wasn’t the best at the moment either. I think dad did some damage to my ears as well as everything else.
But a couple of voices started getting clearer as they were getting closer to my room. They were
coming up the stairs and I could hear Spencer pleading for some reason. That bastard never
pleads.
Suddenly I heard Gage at my doorway and I tried to look at him, but I couldn’t. I couldn’t even lift
I
my head.
Gage growled at Spencer, causing Spencer to back off and stop talking.
I didn’t hear my parents come out of their room, but for all I knew they were probably jumping out of the window to avoid getting the Alpha involved.
I don’t know if they did, but it seems like something they would do. Especially now that they’re son
has seen me.
But Gage walked into my room and he closed the door behind himself.
He slowly walked over towards my bed and he knelt beside me.

I could only make out his movements by sound, but then he held my hand gently in his.

I didn’t know if I should be relieved or scared that he knew the truth. I didn’t know if I should be
worried that the Alpha was going to find out about this. And I don’t mean Asher. I mean his father. The actual Alpha of the pack until Asher takes over.
Gage starts to pull back my blanket to look at my whole body and I knew there was blood all over
the bed from numerous injuries.
He picked up the blood soaked pillow I originally had my head on before I pointed to my desk.
“What? Do you want something on your desk?” He asked.
“Under it. In the floor.” I said.
So he walked over to my desk and pushed it out of the way and found the loose floorboard that I
was talking about.
He picked up a digital camera that was hidden in there and he turned it on.
He started going through the photos that had already been taken and he turned back to look at
“You’ve been taking photos of all the abuse?” He asked, surprised.
“Just in case I needed it.” I managed to get out.
I heard him chuckle before he started taking photos of all the injuries on me. But he obviously asked for permission before he lifted my shirt and took pictures underneath my clothing.
But then he started feeling around my body, and I could tell that he was assessing the extent of my I
injuries.
He may not be in college, but he is part of the Alpha family and was trained in this sort of thing from a young age. To recognise how injured someone is.
“Is that wolfsbane?” He asked.
“In the cuts,” I said.
“They poured wolfsbane in these cuts?” He asked, almost like he didn’t believe it. But I just nodded my head.
I could tell how pissed off he was getting as he was feeling around my body and he was listening to my breathing before he finally made a decision.
“I’m going to pick you up now. It’s going to hurt and I am really sorry. But I have to.” He said.
CHAPTER 17
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“You need to go to the hospital.” He said.
“No. I can’t go to the hospital. I can’t let anyone know about this.” I said.

“Trinity. You’re going to the hospital. You can’t just hope that you’re going to heal on your own. You have at least four broken ribs and a punctured lung. You could die. And I’ll be damned if I am going. to let those bastards do this to you.” He said with such conviction that I knew there was no point in
arguing with him.
He picked me up, his arm under my shoulders and his other arm under
my
knees.
He carried me out of my bedroom, where I didn’t hear any of my family anywhere.
Gage carried me downstairs and out the front door. I felt the cold breeze hit me instantly, and
honestly, it felt really good.
He didn’t have his car at the house so he carried me the whole way to the hospital.
The doctor was already waiting for him when we arrived and there was no one else around.
I think he might have mind–linked the doctor to say that we were coming and to get everyone else
out of here.
There was only one other nurse there to help him and they took me to a treatment room where Gage stayed with me the whole time.
“Why did you want me to clear the emergency department?” The doctor asked.
“Because no one is to know about this. Do you two understand? You do not tell anyone about this.” Gage demanded.
“Of course not.” The doctor said. And then he started assessing my injuries and they had to cut my
clothing off of me.
Once my clothes were off I heard the nurse gasp before the doctor started gently feeling around
everywhere.
“What the hell happened to her?” The doctor asked in disbelief.
“It’s a long story. Just do everything you can to help her.” Gage ordered.
“Is that wolfsbane?” The doctor asked.
“Yeah.” Gage said.
So they started treating whatever wounds they could, but the worst one was the chest tube that

they had to put in because of my collapsed lung.
I screamed out in pain when they did that and Gage was getting mad at them for hurting me. But they obviously didn’t have a choice. They had to do what they were doing in order to save me.
“Gage,” Asher said from the doorway.
I couldn’t see him but I could tell that he was at the doorway and I was scared of what he was
looking at right now.
“I know that you told me to watch, but as soon as Spencer got home, I had to go in.” Gage said, trying to defend himself.
What are they talking about?
“I know. I’m not bad at you about that. Has she said what happened?” Asher asked.
“No. Not yet. But she did give me this camera.” Gage said, taking it out of his pocket and handing it
to Asher.
I could tell that Asher was going through the photos by the growl that started to escape his throat.
He was getting more and more pissed off the more he saw.
I suddenly felt a cool hand touching mine. So I grabbed that hand and held it tight.
I knew straight away that it was Asher and I was really scared right now. I didn’t know what was
going on.
I couldn’t see what they were doing and no one was talking to me.
I was too weak and too injured to ask them myself. So I took comfort in knowing that Asher was right beside me and hoping that he was here for me and not here just because he was an Alpha.
For the first time, I was actually hoping he was here as my mate. And not out of responsibility to
his pack.
It took them hours to stabilize me and get me to a private room where they drew the blinds to the hallway of the hospital so no one could see in.
Gage and Asher were both still with me and Gage sat in the chair next to my bed while Asher was on the other side of my bed, still holding my hand because I wouldn’t let it go.
“Trinny. Can you tell me why this is happening? When did your family turn on you like this?” Gage
asked.
“Four years ago.” I softly said.
CHAPTER
“They’ve been doing this for four years? Why?” Gage asked.
“Because I killed Dane.” I said.
