Moonlight In Chains (Trinity and Asher) novel Chapter 21

CHAPTER 21

As you can imagine, I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep that night. I was tossing and turning all night, but when I got up the next morning I saw that a lot of my injuries were practically gone.

That was a relief. I wouldn’t have to be locked up in the house for as long as I thought. But people are going to notice that my family is gone and I am living in the packhouse.

I was gonna have to talk to the others about a decent story to tell people. They obviously can’t tell the pack the truth. But there will be a lot of questions.

I had a shower and I got dressed in some clothes that were actually more comfortable and clothes that I actually wanted to wear, instead of clothes that I needed to wear to cover bruises.

The marks on my arms were gone so I was able to wear a singlet now.

It felt strange being able to wear whatever I wanted without having to worry about explaining

strange marks on me.

I was called down to breakfast and when I went into the dining room everyone was already sitting

at the table so I sat next to Gage as the cooks brought out massive platters full of food that they placed in the middle of the table and we all helped ourselves.

I was still having a hard time looking at the Alpha and Luna. Now that they know what their friends were doing to me I feel guilty about exposing them. Almost like I had made a fool of the Alpha and

Luna.

I know that I hadn’t. My parents had gotten really good at lying and pretending like everything was fine. They were master manipulators. But I still felt a little responsible.

I couldn’t believe how much food there was on the table and since I was always responsible for feeding myself, I didn’t eat as much as the others were eating.

I’d gotten used to eating small portions and not very regularly. So I only put a small amount of food

on my plate.

I noticed the others looking but none of them said anything.

They knew how private I was about this sort of stuff. And after yesterday, I don’t think they really wanted me to bring up any more painful memories,

So Trinny, do you have any plans today?Luna Petra asked.

Not really. I just have a bunch of school work to catch up on.I said.

Yeah. Arlo mentioned that he went and talked to the school and told them that you would be out

for the week.She said.

Yeah. I’m thankful he did. Otherwise I’d never be able to catch up.I said.

Well, the boys will be training today and Asher will be doing whatever it is that he does. So, it’ll be pretty peaceful here. You can use the library or any part of the house that you want.Alpha Dennis

said.

I appreciate that. Thank you.I said.

The library in the packhouse had just as much as the town library. So I wouldn’t have to go out unless I was after a specific book that the packhouse didn’t have. But I was sure that I could get it

all done at the house.

I just needed to catch up on these classes that I was missing this week and then I could rest a little easier. I might actually be able to relax.

But knowing that my parents are right under my feet and my mate is just down the hallway is going to be pretty hard to relax.

I looked over at Asher and I could tell that he was feeling really uncomfortable, but there was something else wrong with him as well. He looked like he was a little pissed off about something. Maybe it was that crack that his father made about him doing whatever it is that he does‘. I wasn’t

sure what that meant either.

He’s the future Alpha and the way I understood it from Spencer, Asher was pushing him pretty hard to get work done. Or maybe he was just making up work for Spencer to piss him off. He knew what Spencer was doing to me and he could have been trying to make him pay.

Otherwise, I don’t know what he really does around here either. I thought he would be following his father and working with him to learn how to run the pack.

When breakfast was over I headed back upstairs and I sat at my desk with my laptop open while I was going through my school work and I picked the next assignment that I wanted to get done.

I had to do a bit of research on the computer as I was working through it but it wasn’t anything I couldn’t handle.

Pretty soon I heard sirens going off and I got up and ran out of my bedroom.

I ran to the bottom floor of the house and I saw people running around everywhere just as Asher was running down the hallway.

“What’s going on?I asked as he grabbed me by the arms.

You need to get back to your bedroom. They don’t know where you’re living here.He said.

C CHAPTER 21

What are you talking about?I asked.

Your parents. They got out of the dungeon. We don’t know how but I will come and see you as soon as I know something. Just get upstairs. He ordered.

I looked around for a moment and there were warriors everywhere outside the packhouse and I turned around and ran back up to my room where I closed the door and locked it but I knew that wasn’t enough to keep them out. If they wanted to, they could easily kill me.

So I locked grabbed the vanity and pulled it in front of the door as well. At least that would give me

a head start if I needed to find a way out of the room.

I ran over to the window and I opened it the whole way to see how high up I was.

I knew that I couldn’t make that jump but I saw that there was a drainpipe about 5 feet away from

the window.

I could probably jump to that and make my way to the ground if I had to.

But for right now, I was staying in my room and pacing back and forth.

My window was still open and I could hear people yelling from downstairs which was making me

even more nervous.

I started chewing my fingernails as I was pacing the room and the butterflies in my stomach had

turned into wasps.

I felt like I was going to be sick. My head was getting dizzy and I needed to sit down for a minute before I made myself go into a full on panic attack. So I tried to take a couple of deep breaths and I tried to steady myself.

Obviously, that didn’t really work. So I started pacing again while I had my head down and I was starting to freak out even more than that.

I couldn’t keep a single thought in my head except for my parents and I was getting mind links from Gage and Arlo to make sure that I was alright.

I just let them know that I’m locked in my room waiting for news.

They seemed relieved to know that I was alright, but they were out there on the hunt as well.

I think every warrior in the pack was looking for them and then it got me thinking. How the hell are we going to keep this a secret from the rest of the pack? How are they going to search for my parents as fugitives without letting the whole pack know that my parents and my brother were fugitives?

I mean, my family was really close to the Alpha family and now they are being hunted by them.

I don’t think this was something I could ignore anymore.

It felt like I was wearing a hole in the damn carpet of my bedroom as I kept pacing when suddenly someone tried to open the door.

They pushed on it but it was locked and I froze.

No one said anything and I was frozen in place. I couldn’t say anything.

Without them saying anything they broke the lock on my door and started to push the vanity away

from the door.

I ran to the window, getting ready to jump out as I heard a growl on the other side of the door. My heart was thumping so hard that it felt like it was going to come through my chest and I looked

back at the drain before looking back at the bedroom door.
