Chapter 104 I’m Busy
“Danielle came to apologize.” Adriana suddenly remembered.
“Oh yeah? Did you forgive her?” Curtis asked, ruffling her hair.
She shook her head. “Not yet. I’ll probably forgive her in a few days.”

He chuckled. “You don’t have to forgive her at all. You’re my wife–you don’t need to care what anyone else thinks.”
Her eyes brightened. “Okay.”
On the drive to pick up Belinda, Adriana hesitated for a while before finally saying, “Curtis, my graduation ceremony is on Monday. Family can come. Do you think you’ll have time to go?”
“Mr. Lincoln, Monday-” Kenneth started to remind Curtis about his schedule since there was a meeting that day.
“I’m free,” Curtis interrupted immediately, shooting Kenneth a sharp look through the rearview mirror.
Kenneth quickly changed his tone. “Right. You’re completely free on Monday.”
Adriana smiled a little. The thought of Curtis being there made her happy. She wouldn’t have to sit alone this time.
Honestly, she was being a little selfish.
When she was with Matthew, she’d always hoped he’d show up to her graduation.
She tried so hard to be good and obedient. Whenever he seemed in a decent mood, she’d ask softly, “Can you come to my graduation?”
He never agreed.
He’d just say, “Adriana, stop it. I’m not going to your school event.”
Every time, it broke her heart.
Did she really have to stay invisible like that?
She just wanted to feel like she belonged somewhere, even if it was all pretend.
But Matthew never said yes.
Langford Group.
Matthew sat behind his desk, rubbing his temples.
“Mr. Langford, you have a meeting with Oceanus Corp on Monday,” his assistant, Peter, said, going over the
schedule.

Matthew didn’t answer right away. His eyes fell on the calendar, where Monday was already marked with a
star.
Adriana had begged him so many times to attend her graduation.
He’d always refused and thought about just buying her a nice gift that day.
But now?
“Clear my Monday. I’ve got something personal to take care of.” Matthew wanted to visit Adriana and be there for her graduation ceremony.
Even though it seemed totally crazy.
Peter blinked but didn’t argue. “Got it.”
Then, he remembered something. “Oh, right–Ms. Jones asked me to remind you that Monday is a good day. She booked an appointment at City Hall to get your marriage certificate.”
Matthew frowned and leaned back. He picked up his phone and called.
“Natasha, work is crazy on Monday. I probably can’t make it to City Hall. Let’s delay it a bit. It’s not urgent.”
“Matthew, the company can wait,” Natasha said quickly. She was worried he’d change his mind if they didn’t do it soon. “Besides, I heard your dad brought that illegitimate son into the company. If we get the certificate now, it’ll send a clear message.”
The Joneses weren’t as powerful as the Langfords, but they were decent. If he married her, his position in the family would be solid.
Matthew’s father, Raymond Langford, was known for being a womanizer. He had plenty of mistresses and a few secret kids scattered around. Word was, another one of his women was pregnant. If that were true, the baby would be nearly 30 years younger than Matthew.
Matthew’s expression turned cold. It felt like Natasha was trying to threaten him.
“Natasha, I’ve been super busy lately. I barely even make it home these days.”
He’d been working overtime nonstop, practically camping out at the office.
Matthew was determined to take full control of the Langford Group and get everyone on his side. That way, even if that illegitimate kid joined the company, he wouldn’t be a problem.
As for Raymond, Matthew already had plenty of tricks to make him hand over the shares, but it wasn’t the right moment, yet.
He couldn’t afford to expose his plans too soon.
“Matthew…” Natasha was unwilling to back down.
“I’ve got another meeting. Talk later.” He ended the call without hesitation.
He was starting to see that Natasha wasn’t as gentle or easy to handle as Adriana.
