Chapter 122 Chaos and Proof

Darren smiled at Harold. “Mr. Harold, aren’t you worried? What if she really is pregnant? She already has low blood sugar, and drawing blood could hurt your great–grandchild. It’s just a blood test. It can wait till tomorrow. Let her rest today, okay?”
Harold glared at Adriana coldly. “Stop pretending. It’s just a blood test, not open–heart surgery.”
Nicole stomped her foot. “Mr. Harold, she’s totally faking it! I saw her myself!”
“Mr. Harold,” Darren continued dramatically, “it’s your great–grandchild we’re talking about. I don’t care either way, but I’ve heard serious hypoglycemia can be fatal–especially for pregnant women.”
A crowd had gathered by now. Darren’s assistant raised his voice on purpose. “What kind of man forces his pregnant granddaughter–in–law to give blood? Is this family always this heartless?”
Then he quickly disappeared into the crowd.
The moment those words came out, people started murmuring. “Hey, old man, is that your granddaughter- in–law? Who treats family like that?”
“Some folks don’t even treat their daughters–in–law like human beings!”
Harold’s face darkened. He prided himself on his reputation, and being criticized in public was unbearable. He sat down in his wheelchair, humiliated.
He couldn’t stand the gossip. For now, he had to let it go.
“I’m not leaving Haldoria. You may have dodged me today, but not tomorrow.” Harold snorted and ordered his assistant to wheel him away.
Nicole was livid. She stomped her foot hard. “Adriana, just wait. I’ll see how long you can keep pretending.”
Meanwhile, at a hotel in Hillcrest City.
Curtis stepped out of his hotel room and looked at Kenneth. “Did the Bartons redo the paternity tests?”
“Yes, Mr. Jeremy ran three of them. All say Nicole is his biological granddaughter.” Kenneth sighed.
It looked like they’d found the right person this time.
Curtis gave a cold laugh. “Three tests prove nothing. If anything, they show that Chandler and Danielle have already taken control of the entire Barton family.”
Nicole was just a fool–always doing whatever Danielle told her. No way she was the real granddaughter. “I’ll stay in Hillcrest City. You go back to Haldoria, get a few strands of Nicole’s hair, and take them to Harborton. Have a private lab do a DNA test with Mr. Jeremy. Keep it secret. Tell him not to say a word to anyone–not even his assistant or housekeeper.”
Kenneth nodded. “Understood.”

Chapter 122 Chaos and Proof
Harold wanted him to marry Nicole? Then he would expose her fake identity himself.
“Curtis,” Darren called over the phone, laughing. “Adriana actually does have low blood sugar!”
“Enough joking. Put her on the phone,” Curtis said, letting out a weary sigh.
Darren handed the phone to Adriana, grinning.
Adriana spoke softly, a little embarrassed. “Curtis, I’m fine. Grandpa left–he was really angry.”

“Good. I’ll have Darren set you up somewhere safe. Stay low for a few days. He won’t find you. I’ll handle the rest when I’m back.”
He needed time to gather proof that Nicole was an impostor.
“Okay,” Adriana replied quietly. She trusted him completely.
“Don’t be afraid,” Curtis said again, his voice gentle.
“I’m not scared. I just … ” She trailed off, unsure how to explain.
If Harold weren’t his grandfather, she could’ve just called the police.
“Listen,” Curtis said firmly, “you don’t owe anyone anything. You’re my wife. Even Grandpa can’t boss you around. If anyone forces you to do something, fight back. Even if it’s me–fight back. That’s your right, understand?”
Adriana’s fingers tightened. “Then can I call the police next time?”
Curtis chuckled. “Of course you can.”
“Ugh!” Adriana suddenly gagged on the other end, her chest tightening.
Her heart raced–maybe her blood sugar really had dropped.
Curtis’s tone changed instantly. “Babe, are you sure you’re not pregnant?”
Darren quickly handed her a bottle of water.
Adriana took a sip, steadying her breath. Then she whispered sø Darren couldn’t hear, “No, I’m not. I got my period.”
Curtis exhaled softly. “Alright. Let Darren take you to a hotel. Rest.”
“What about Grandpa?” Adriana asked in a small voice.
