Ms. Escape Marrying to Run, Fighting to Rise

Chapter 19 Move In With Me

Adriana meant every word she said. Matthew had backe her into a corner too many times, all for Natasha.

Whatever feelings she once had for him were gone.

And she wasn’t going to cling to any foolish hope that he’d ever change.

“Adriana!” Matthew finally snapped. He grabbed her chi and forced her to face him. “Are you seriously going to keep making things difficult for me?”

He shoved her down onto the bed. Even though he hated how small and stuffy the motel room was, his anger made him want to control her.

The only time she ever backed down was when she was in bed.

Smack! Adriana slapped him hard. Her breath was shaky, and her eyes were blazing with defiance.

Matthew was stunned, frozen in place. He hadn’t expected that.

The room felt even smaller, the air thick and suffocating

Adriana’s eyes were brimming with tears when she looked up at him. “Mr. Langford, what even are we now?

I don’t live with you anymore. If you lay a hand on me again, I’ll call the cops. That’s assault.”

Matthew’s face clouded over. He’d lost control for a second, but her cold rejection hit him hard.

It left him feeling anxious, and he didn’t even know why

He just wanted the old Adriana back. The one who’d listen.

“What’s it gonna take for you to do what I say?” he asked quietly.

Adriana had pulled herself into the corner of the bed, still breathing heavily. “Please, Mr. Langford … Just leave. I don’t want you anywhere in my life.”

That was it—her final words for him. She’d spent so much time trying to get away from him. There was no way she’d turn back now.

When she was 19, she was easy to fool. All it took was a little kindness from Matthew, and she gave him everything.

She hated that version of herself.

But with time, she had moved on.

She forgave herself for what happened back then, but she was done repeating those same stupid choices.

“Adriana!” Matthew’s voice was sharp. “Fine. You want to study abroad, right? If I make it happen, will you finally cooperate?

Is that really all she wants? That scholarship?

Adriana glared at him, her whole body shaking with rag

“Alright, I’ll take care of it,” he said. He was planning to visit the university tomorrow and maybe pull some strings or even contact the professor in Pastalia to see if he could take in one more student.

He was giving in. There was no point denying it. He hated seeing her fight him like this.

The fire in her eyes made him uneasy.

Still, he hadn’t exactly held back when it came to physical stuff.

Sometimes, love and desire could be separated.

It was sad but true.

“Matthew, move in with me,” Natasha murmured.

Previously, when she tried to kiss him, he pushed her away. That really scared her.

She was starting to panic. Maybe Matthew’s feelings for Adana are stronger than I think.

I have to cut off whatever is left between themfast.

Back when Matthew proposed, she didn’t say yes right away. She’d wanted to use the engagement to secure more for the Joneses first. She knew exactly how a woman could turn love and marriage into power.

But now, she was worried. If she dragged it out any longer, Matthew might not continue waiting for her.

Matthew paused.

Helping Adriana get that overseas placement was his way of keeping a little control and making Adriana dependent on him again. Once he married Natasha and Adriana was sent abroad, things would work out for everyone.

But if he moved in with Natasha now

“Matthew?” Natasha looked up at him, clearly anxious.

He said after a pause, “Sure, but we should redo the place first. Once it’s fixed up, you’ll move in as my wife. It should feel fresh, like a real home for both of us.” That was his excuse.
