Chapter 199 The Elephant Never Argues with Ants
Curtis would never let anyone hurt Adriana again.
No matter who it was, he would never allow it.
“Curtis!”
Adriana seemed to be dreaming, softly calling his name in her sleep.
The anger in Curtis’s eyes faded a little.
When did she stop calling Matthew in her dreams?
Did that mean she had slowly started to like me?

Barton Estate.
Danielle looked at Nicole and stated, “Since Curtis refuses to play nice, then you must go after Denton.”
Nicole nodded. “Denton is just a naive kid. Winning him over won’t be hard. I’ll go back to Haldoria
tomorrow.”
Danielle smirked. “As long as you marry Denton, then everything his family owns will belong to him. Then Curtis will fall from his pedestal and be nothing.”
When that day comes, let’s see what Adriana still has to be proud of.
Haldoria.
Curtis was still in Harborton. There were a lot of things to handle at work. If he really had to leave the company one day, he needed to make sure his exit plan was solid.
Adriana returned to Haldoria first. School was starting soon. Her language program would begin early, so she needed time to prepare.
While in Harborton, Curtis had found her a private language tutor. He also introduced her to many friends from Pastalia so she could practice speaking. Irene helped too, bringing people from their social circle to meet Adriana.

Adriana had a natural gift for languages. She already spoke three, so learning Pastalian became easier and quicker for her.
“Adriana, I heard Harold found a new heir. Curtis is going to be kicked out of the family, right?” Adriana had arrived early and was studying in the classroom when Cheryl’s mocking voice cut through the quiet room.
Adriana ignored her and kept reading.
“Why are you pretending?” Cheryl laughed coldly. “Once Curtis is kicked out of the house and loses control

of Lincoln Group, I wonder how miserable you’ll be.” Adriana kept ignoring her. Cheryl’s pride was hurt. She snatched the book from Adriana’s hands. “Ha! You act so calm… But do you even know how many people Curtis offended in the industry? No one dares to mess with him now because he runs Lincoln Group. But once he’s no longer the sole heir–do you know what that means?”
Even someone like Cheryl understood what it would mean for Curtis if Denton returned home. Someone as experienced as Harold, who had survived the business world for decades, must had known that too.
Adriana’s thoughts were full of Curtis. She felt sorry for him.
She thought Harold’s favoritism was far too obvious.
Even as an outsider, she felt her heart ache for Curtis. How would Curtis feel?
She took a deep breath and chose not to argue with Cheryl. Right now, she didn’t want to cause trouble for Curtis.
“Put the book down,” Adriana said calmly.
Cheryl sneered and held the book out of Adriana’s reach. “Soon, you’ll understand what real hell is. You sent Mia and Rufus to jail. Their families won’t let you go. They won’t let Curtis go either. Now Curtis’s family has a new heir; everyone will support the new heir. You’re both done.”
Adriana found it almost laughable. “Do you even know why Lincoln Group is where it is today? The company needs Curtis. He doesn’t need that company.”
She believed it completely. Curtis had said that he and Adriana trusted it.
He was Curtis.
Even without Lincoln Group, he still had Ainsworth Group. And Ainsworth Group had already crushed Langford Group in the business world. While everyone out there was still guessing who the mysterious owner was, Curtis was already quietly standing at the very top. It was laughable.
After meeting Curtis, Adriana finally understood what it meant when people said, the elephant never argues
with ants.
Because those people weren’t even worth his time.
He didn’t need to fight them. He only needed to keep moving upward, higher than anyone could ever reach.
“Talk is cheap,” Cheryl said coldly and threw Adriana’s book across the room.
Everyone in the classroom watched with interest. Among the students lucky enough to study abroad in Pastalia, only some really had true ability. Most of them came from old money. Everyone knew Cheryl had a powerful background. Most people just wanted to watch, not get involved.
