The girl pulled off her cap and smiled brightly at Adriana. “It’s me! Surprise? Did I shock you?”

Adriana stared at her in shock. Yolanda? The flight attendant?

“I applied for an exchange program in jewelry appraisal at Pastalia,” Yolanda said cheerfully. “I’m taking language classes here.” She walked over, bumped Cheryl aside, and picked up the book with a quick apology. “Sorry I ruined your book. I promise next time I’ll never use your book to hit trash again.”

Adriana felt a rush of excitement. She actually knew someone here. With Yolanda around, she suddenly felt this semester wouldn’t be dull after all.

Cheryl took a few seconds to react. When she did, she snapped. “Who the heck are you?!”
