Chapter 223 Nina’s First Day Struggles

Nina shook her little head, still unwilling

She had no choice, even if unwilling

Her family wasn’t picking her up yet. She couldn’t leave

Nina fussed for a long time, bun finally gave in. She wiped her tears, sat back at the table, and are through her tears.

Nina cried in class. Several adults watched on the monitor.

The daycare had cameras. Parents could see kids eating and napping.

Seeing Nina cat alone, William and Daniel ached badly.

At home, they fed her bite by bite. Nina had been able to eat on her own for ages, but they’d spoiled her so much she got used to being fed every meal.

Watching her eat alone now, Daniel couldn’t resist and tagged Amelia in their group chat.

Daniel sent. “Amelia, really can’t pick her up for lunch? She’s so little. How can she cat alone?”

Amelia replied, “Kids younger than her eat by themselves. Kindergarten kids eat at school, too. Daycare helps her adjust.”

Amelia felt sorry for Nina being there without any grown–ups, but she knew rationally not to take her home out of misplaced sympathy.

Nina needed to adapt to group life.

Amelia held firm. No one at home dared argue more.

In class, Nina wiped her tears and finished her food. She left the green veggies.

After the meal, the teachers led activities, then coaxed the kids for a nap.

Nina was picky about nappers.

Sally placed her on the little bed and gently patted her plump body.

Other kids drifted off one by one. Nina lay on her side, quietly tearing up.

Sally instructed her not to speak, to close her eyes, and to be a good girl.

Nina somewhat obeyed the teachers.

Finally, nap time ended, and during activities and afternoon snacks, she perked up and played a bit.

At 3:50, the daycare ended. Nina, carrying her little backpack, was led out by Sally–but she hadn’t forgotten

her blanket.

Nina remembered her things clearly.

“Blankie. My blankie!” Nina looked back, reminded of Sally, “Blankie no take.”

Sally smiled and explained, “Nina, no need for a blanket. You can use it tomorrow for your nap.”

Nina shook her head, “No”

After just one day here, Nina already disliked the daycare.

She said seriously. “Nina no come.”

Here, she could play with other kids, but there was no William to feed her, no Amelia to soothe her to sleep.

She had to feed herself, dress herself, and put on her own shoes–and none of it was any fun!

Sally didn’t take Nina’s words about quitting school to heart.

Every new child acted like this at first.

The cookies came from their home nanny, so they were nice and clean.
