Sally was still trying to educate her. But Nina had already wriggled free and gone back to the swing.
Sally said gently, “Nina, no more swinging. Let’s go to class. This lesson is arts and crafts. The children can help each other.”
Sally tried to mend the relationship between the two kids. But it didn’t work.
Every time Jerry came near Nina, he got a little slap from her.
Sally couldn’t even stop it!
Jerry’s parents saw their son getting hit. They were furious.
They stormed over to the school, and at the gate, they crossed paths with Daniel.
Amelia had watched Daniel leave.
But he hadn’t gone far. He couldn’t stop worrying about Nina, so he turned back.
He waited at the class door. While waiting, he saw Jerry’s parents causing a scene.
“What’s Nina’s problem! She keeps hitting my child. You don’t do anything about it?!
“Let me in. I want to go in and settle this with her!
“Where are her parents? Get her parents here. I want them to apologize to me!
“And my son needs a hospital checkup!
“My son got slapped so many times. He’s hurt, both physically and emotionally!”
Jerry’s parents demanded entry. Daniel overheard and understood the situation.
Daniel was already upset and had no outlet for his frustration–so when Jerry’s parents walked right into him, he didn’t hold back.
Daniel sneered, “I’m Nina’s family. What, you want compensation from me?”
“Where were you when your kid started it?
“Your kid couldn’t win the fight, so you show up?
“Have some shame!”
The adults started arguing outside. Nina, still in class, knew nothing about it.
Nina obediently did her craft. She remained unwilling to make friends.
Her mood wasn’t good. She felt too lazy to socialize.
She avoided making friends. But the other children kep noticing her.
A little girl in a yellow dress even offered her candy. “Here.”

She admired Nina for standing up to Jerry, so she gave her a piece of candy she’d brought from home.
But Nina ate the candy. Her chubby face thought for a few seconds. She misunderstood.
Nina thought the candy meant the girl wanted help.
So Nina ate the candy and went over to slap Jerry again.
Jerry was already scared of her!
“Why hit me again?!” Jerry covered his face and wailed for the umpteenth time.
Nina slapped him, then calmly gave her reason.
“You hit people. You bad!”
Jerry cried harder, “You hit people, too!”
Nina nodded confidently. “Yep, I bad.”
Nina often played the bad baby. She didn’t mind one more time!
This day in daycare, Nina skipped her nap as usual. But she handled the day better than yesterday.
At least she didn’t cling to her blanket, demanding to go home.
Nina had accepted she couldn’t leave during the day.
At dismissal, predictably, Amelia got called in.
Amelia stayed for a long time talking with the teachers.
While Amelia talked to the teachers, Daniel carried Nin out.
Nina sat on Daniel’s arm. Her chubby face showed clear unhappiness.
“Where Daddy?” she asked.
At the class door, Nina saw William and Daniel. But no Benjamin.
She frowned her little brows. She grew displeased.
The little princess had finally escaped class. How could Benjamin not come pick her up!
This truly made Nina angry!
“Nina, your daddy went to buy toys for you.”
Daniel tried this excuse on Nina. But she didn’t fall for anymore.
“Daddy come back! Hug Nina!”
