A strange man, Jasper Cole, with red–rimmed eyes, stood by the hospital bed, looking down at the still–unconscious Chloe.

His voice trembled with barely contained grief. “Chloe, you have to wake up. I can’t live without you.”

He looked utterly heartbroken.

Nina, who had just woken up, scratched her chubby little cheek. Her brain was still fuzzy with sleep, but her mouth was already running.

“You okay?” She babbled, “Who you? Me Nina. Me sleep.”

She kept babbling, and Daniel, equally baffled, spoke up, “Hey, man, who are you? What’s your relation to Chloe?”

“We’re lovers,” Jasper said, his eyes still red. “Chloe is the woman I love most.”

Daniel reacted with pure confusion. “What? Chloe never mentioned she was dating anyone to the family. Are you some kind of scammer?”

He deeply doubted this guy’s story.

Nina had initially been curious about him, but since he ignored her, her temper flared.

Frowning, she decided she didn’t want to talk to him either.

“I’m not a scammer. I’m the one Chloe loves most. You’ll know when she wakes up,” Jasper only answered Daniel, completely ignoring Nina sitting on the bed.

His disregard for Nina didn’t escape Daniel’s notice.

That single detail was enough to sour Daniel’s impression entirely. “Get out.”

In front of his precious baby, Daniel still minded his manners.

He didn’t curse, just glared coldly and ordered Jasper to leave.

When Jasper refused to go, Daniel physically hauled him out.

Even after being shoved out of the room, Jasper showed no intention of leaving.

“I’ll be right here waiting for Chloe,” he declared, sitting down on a chair by the doorway.
