Chapter 269 A Black Mark
Nina usually didn’t want William around at bedtime.
She preferred Amelia to put her to sleep.
Benjamin didn’t say anything but just stared at Amelia without blinking.
A few seconds later, Amelia softened under his
gaze.
She squeezed his hand and agreed. “Alright then. Let’s go on a date.”
The two turned and left without even entering the house.

Meanwhile, inside, Nina was proudly showing her little red flower to William, completely unaware of their departure.
William was recording a video of her.
He hadn’t been filming for long before Nina came over, wanting to see it. “Grandpa, I see!”
In the video, she was giggling, looking utterly adorable.
Watching herself, Nina giggled again.
“Nina’s such a good girl, getting a little red flower!” William picked her up and kissed her cheek. “What reward does our amazing Nina want?”
“Car,” Nina said.
She had plenty of cars already, but they tended to get worn out quickly.
Toy cars were still her favorite.
William indulged her. If she wanted a car, he’d buy her one.
They played together for quite a while before Nina suddenly remembered to look for Amelia.
She ran around the house once but didn’t find her.
“Mommy! Mommy!” she called out.
Nina ran around again but still couldn’t find her.
Now she was getting worried.
Unable to find Amelia, she came to ask William, “Granda! Where Mommy?”
William had already received a message from Benjamin letting him know they were out and wouldn’t be back for a while.
He tried to coax her, “Mommy is busy. Nina can play with Grandpa.”
Nina frowned, looking at the darkening sky outside.
She was getting upset. “Dark!”

“Yes, it’s dark. We’ll play inside,” William said.
Nina didn’t agree.
She stomped toward the door, angry, “Mommy go out! Me find Mommy!”
Nina wasn’t that little anymore and wasn’t easily fooled,
She knew Amelia had gone out without her, and that made her furious.
William caught up to her, trying to get her to stay inside
Nina dodged his hands and was hard to hold onto.
Peppa Pig wasn’t that great, and Amelia didn’t like Nina watching it much.
“Nina, let’s watch cars.” He pulled up a cartoon called Exavator Max for her.

With Nina occupied by the TV, Daniel and Erik resume their conversation.
Erik mentioned he had lost the photos of Lester.
After that brief comment, he focused on Daisy. “Daniel, Daisy texted me. She said Lester was being completely heartless, ignoring her. She wants comfort from me. Should I fly over to see her?”
Erik was clearly tempted.

Daniel smacked him upside the head. “Dude, don’t be pathetic! Daisy hurt you so badly before chasing after Lester! Now that she can’t get him, she comes crawling back to you? If you go running to her, you’re just being a doormat!”
His words were harsh, and Erik got defensive.
He shouted, “You have the nerve to say that? Weren’t you the same way chasing Zoe?”
Daniel said, “Shut up! It’s not the same at all! When I was pursuing Zoe, I had no idea she was flirting with other guys. If I’d known she was two-timing, I would’ve stopped long ago! And by the way, stop bringing up that Zoe stuff. If Alice hears about it, she’ll remember all that old drama.”
His past was a black mark.
