Chapter 282 Less Boring

fat shed

Lester frowned slightly and cut off the banter in an annoyed tone, “Are you all done with the chit-chat?”

His displeasure forced the conversation back to business.

The adults resumed their meeting, while Nina, hugging a cushion, continued watching Peppa Pig.

Sophia checked on her periodically, offering sips of water and pieces of fruit.

After being happily coaxed, Nina started getting along with Sophia.

After Nina watched cartoons for a while, Benjamin finished his video conference.

He then moved on to another in-person meeting.

His meetings dragged on, and half an hour into the second one, Nina’s patience ran out completely.

Puffing out her cheeks and clasping her little hands behind her back, she marched unhappily into the conference room. “Daddy, bye-bye,” she announced to Benjamin.

Seeing her turn to leave after her declaration, Benjamin’s eye twitched.

He called her back, “Where are you going?”

Nina tilted her chubby face up, her little voice firm. “Playground.”

“And how are you going alone?” he asked.

Nina huffed angrily, “Just go!”

She was unbearably stubborn-she’d been chanting “playground” all morning, and if she didn’t get her way today, she’d likely throw a fit.

Benjamin could manage a vast family conglomerate, yet he was utterly powerless against this one little girl.

They stared each other down for several seconds.

The conference room was dead silent; no one dared make a sound during this standoff between them.

For everyone present, each second felt like an hour.

Finally, under everyone’s bated breath, Benjamin-the man known to be swayed by no one- rose from his chair and walked over to the little girl who was scowling.

“Alright. I’ll take you to the playground,” he conceded, truly out of options.

He picked her up, announced the meeting adjourned, and left first with Nina in his arms.

Everyone was taking their time leaving, yet Benjamin headed out first with Nina.

Once they were ready and left the building, Nina’s face lit up the moment they stepped outside.

“Daddy, I love you!” Now she was all sweetness, climbing onto Benjamin’s lap in the car and covering his handsome face with kisses.

Benjamin could only marvel at her instant mood shift.

The car drove on, this time actually heading to the playground.

As they neared their destination, Benjamin looked down, pinched Nina’s chubby cheek gently, and asked in a low voice, “Nina, am I handsome?”

Nina blinked. “Yes!” she declared without hesitation.
