Daniel’s financial troubles hadn’t been resolved yet, but he still managed to give Nelson an extremely expensive toy set.
William was even more generous.
He brought out a pair of emerald pendants. They werent the heirloom pieces passed down through the Graham family, but these two were still incredibly valuable and rare.
He gave one to Nelson and one to Nina.
One for each child-a quiet wish for safety and peace.
Nelson was used to receiving piles of gifts.
Far too many people wanted to curry favor with his father, so they showered him with presents in hopes of getting closer to his father.
He had never lacked for toys or trinkets.
But the gifts from the Grahams and Amelia felt completely different from anything he’d ever received before.
They came from the heart.
“Thank you,” Nelson said quietly, his voice barely above a whisper.
He was still murmuring his thanks when Nina-who had already received her emerald pendant from her grandpa-couldn’t wait another second.
“Daddy! Nina toy!
“Mommy, Nina gift?
“Un-coo Dan’el! Nina no gift.
“Auntie Chloe, why Nina no?”
She looked around and saw everyone giving presents to Nelson, but nothing was left for her.
She wasn’t happy.
Amelia knew exactly how her daughter operated. She pulled out a shiny new toy car she’d bought online.
“Here you go. Yours.”
The toy car wasn’t worth nearly as much as the solid gold necklace or the other lavish gifts, but Nina didn’t mind one bit.
She happily clutched the little car and immediately stated asking everyone else for more.
With Nina around, it was impossible to keep the mood ven slightly sentimental.
She went around collecting a full circle of gifts. Once she had them all, she finally settled down to play with
Nelson.

She gripped the toy car tightly in her chubby hand and ugged at Nelson’s sleeve, inviting him to join her.
The two little ones started playing together right away. The adults watched from the side while a nanny brought over warmed fresh milk.
The nanny knew Nelson was injured. She smiled gently and promised him, “Tomorrow I’ll stew some nourishing meat soup especially for you.”
The Graham family side was warm, harmonious, and full of quiet affection.
Meanwhile, at the perpetually cold and empty Smith Manor, a tall, strikingly handsome man with deep, chiseled features sat motionless on the sofa.
