Ms. Escape: Marrying to Run, Fighting to Rise
Chapter 385 Don’t Worry About Me
Adriana and Denton had to get ready for the enemy’s first strike.
Mister still hadn’t shown himself, but Savannah was already exposed, so she wasn’t much of a threat anymore. The Gills, though.
They were still a wild card.
“What did you find out about the Gills?” Adriana asked quietly.
She really wanted to ask Curtis when he’d finally be back.
“There’s definitely something off about the Gills, but so far, nothing I’ve found points directly to them Curtis explained that all the clues he’d tracked down couldn’t be tied to the Gills. He added that the head of the family definitely wasn’t the same person as Mister.
“Don’t worry about me. You just have to take care of yourself…” Adriana said softly.
“Adriana, it’s going to be over soon.” Curtis tried to reassure her.
He didn’t need hard evidence. Once he was sure who Mister was, he’d come back right away and confront him out in the open.
“Yeah, it’ll all pass.”
Adriana had just hung up when a commotion broke out in the hall.
“Where’s Adriana? I need to see her! Get out of my way!” The shouting voice outside the office could only be Savannah’s.
Ernest had just died, and Savannah was already causing trouble.
The office door swung open, and Adriana saw Savannah yelling in the hallway. “Ms. Summer, I heard about your father’s death. There’s just too much going on in the company right now–I haven’t had time to pay my respects. What brings you here at a time like this?”
Adriana played dumb, keeping her cool as she looked at Savannah.
Savannah glanced at the people blocking her path, then looked straight at Adriana. “I need to discuss something with you. It’s about Lincoln Group and Denton. Are you sure you want me to say it out here?”
Savannah was in such a rush to see Adriana, it wasn’t decisive–it was just reckless.
What Adriana had always worried about was Ernest. He’d been a crafty old fox, and she’d been concerned Denton wasn’t a match for him.
Adriana watched Savannah with a smile. Guess it’s true what they say–what goes around comes around.
Savannah pulled out a photo–a shot of Denton and Lily, cozy together as a couple.
Adriana laughed. “You think a photo of Denton with his ex–girlfriend is going to ruin his wedding? They broke up on good terms.”
Savannah sneered at Adriana. “But you know Denton and Lily slept together, right?”
“So what?” Adriana played dumb. “They were both adults. That’s their business.”
“You probably don’t know about this. Lily is HIV–positive.” Savannah grinned, dropping Lily’s test report in front of Adriana.
Adriana’s expression changed instantly. She shot to her feet. “Savannah, this isn’t funny.”
Seeing Adriana finally rattled, Savannah looked satisfied and stood as well. “The Gills aren’t going to let their daughter marry a guy with HIV. Denton’s done for.”
Adriana’s hands were shaking as she clenched her fists. “You expect me to just take your word for it? Denton’s perfectly healthy.”
“HIV has nearly a one hundred percent transmission rate. As long as they slept together, and didn’t get immediate treatment, there’s no way he’s not infected.” Savannah kept pushing. “Adriana, if you don’t want me to leak all of this to the media or ruin Denton, convince him to sign over at least half his shares to me. Otherwise, I will make this go public.”
