Clenching her teeth, Savannah stared at her assistant, barely containing her fury. “Get my gown ready. Since it’s a Lincoln Group welcome party, I won’t go alone. Notify Denton. As the former heir, surely he’d want to meet Silas.”
The assistant nodded hurriedly. “Understood…”
The welcome reception for Silas was being held at an upscale club owned by the Lincoln Group.
Silas’s capabilities were undeniable. In just two days since taking over, he had secured several major Euraxian projects that the company had previously struggled to land.
Employees needed job security, and stakeholders naturally cheered for results.
From top executives to middle management and the rank–and–file, no one truly cared who was at the helm. As long as it was good for Lincoln Group and their own bottom line, that leader was the best one for the job.
“Mr. Harrison, you’re truly Lincoln Group’s lucky star. The moment you arrived, our old problems just vanished. A real blessing,” several executives were already lavishing praise.
He was not like Justin, whose brilliance was matched by an aloof, solitary demeanor. Justin was respected by Barton Group’s brass but was often seen as too distant. Silas was different. He was not only exceptionally capable but also socially adept and impeccably charming.
“It’s all thanks to everyone’s hard work. Lincoln Group’s reputation, its historical connections, and this platform are the true treasures,” Silas replied with a polished smile, engaging in the expected back–and- forth that left the executives thoroughly impressed.
“See that, Denton? You hated me for taking your Lincoln Group shares. But look now… Even if I hadn’t taken them, they’d have ended up in Silas’s hands anyway.” Nearby, Savannah smiled mockingly at Denton. “Look at those executives who once supported you. Now they’re all fawning over Silas like eager puppies.”
Denton knew Savannah was trying to goad him into turning against Silas.
“He’s competent, of course people respect him. Unlike you… bustling about, finally getting your hands on Lincoln Group shares, only to hand them over so easily?” Denton asked with a faint smile. “Who’s really behind you? They clearly don’t trust you much.”
Savannah’s expression darkened instantly.
Lincoln Group had invited all major partner companies. Adriana was, naturally, on the list.
The moment she arrived, Savannah was already waiting near the entrance.
“Adriana, Silas has completely won over Lincoln Group’s leadership. That was your husband Curtis’s life’s work. Are you really okay with it falling into someone else’s hands so easily?” Savannah stood beside Adriana, watching Silas from a distance.
Adriana smiled faintly. “Curtis is gone. Lincoln Group was left to Denton by the old man. I have nothing to resent. Besides, Denton is still young. One day, he won’t be any worse than Silas.”
