Chapter 55 A Surprising Guest
Cassia’s words were rude, but they weren’t wrong
Georgia frowned. “Hmph, how crude. Some people never change.”

“Yeah. Weren’t we going to get the bracelet checked at the store? What? You think we’re scared of you.” Danica added proudly.
Right then, a deep voice cut through the crowd.
“What’s everyone doing here?” The voice carried authority.
“Dad, you’re here! Where did you go? What could be more important than your daughter’s birthday?” Georgia rushed to her father, full of attitude and sweetness.
“I was waiting for someone important, but she didn’t show up.” Mark Gill sounded disappointed.
He’d heard that person would be at the hotel today, but he waited forever and never saw her.
“Someone more important than me? Wow, do you not love me anymore?” Georgia kept pushing.
“Sweetie, of course I love you. Didn’t I buy you a diamond bracelet?” Mark said. He always gave his daughter whatever she wanted.
“Humph. It got stolen.” Having her dad beside her made Georgia even more arrogant.
“What? Who would do that?” Mark asked, stunned.
It was a diamond bracelet, after all.
“She did.” Georgia pointed straight at Cassia and puckered her lips.
“I ey, don’t you dare make baseless accusations,” Cassia warned, giving her a cold glance.
Mark followed Cassia’s voice and froze. His eyes went wide, like he’d been struck by lightning.
“M–Ms. Lane?” He stammered, both shocked and thrilled.
Nicole frowned. She recognized Mark but didn’t know him well.
Everyone wants to build a connection with the CEO of Cosmo Group.
Mark never thought someone as important as Nicole would show up at such a small birthday

party.
When Nicole remembered everything that had just happened, her expression didn’t look pleased.
“It’s an honor, Ms. Lane. Please, come with me,” Mark said, clearly excited.
“Hubby, who are you talking to?” Pansy asked, confused by his sudden change in attitude.
“Why are you interrupting?” Mark snapped in annoyance.
Nicole gave a cold smile and mocked, “Mr. Gill, so this is your lovely wife and daughter? Perfect. I’d love to know, what proof do you have that my friend stole your daughter’s diamond bracelet?”
“What? Ridiculous.” Mark finally understood the situation.
Nicole’s friend? Steal something? The idea was laughable.
He nearly burst into a disbelieving laugh.
“Ms. Lane, I’m so sorry. This must be a misunderstanding.” Mark wiped the sweat from his forehead.
Pansy refused to be ignored. She raised her voice again. “Hubby, this is not a misunderstanding! That bumpkin took Georgia’s bracelet.”
Mark finally snapped, “Enough. Be quiet.”
After all these years, he suddenly realized he had married a complete fool. She couldn’t read the room.
Did she not see he was trying everything to stay on good terms with the woman standing right in front of them?
She could be painfully clueless at times. All she knew was shopping, spending money, and never once using her brain.
Nicole let out a cold laugh. “Mr. Gill, what fine manners you have. Accusing someone of stealing without a single piece of proof, do you run your business the same way?”
Her voice was sharp, every word dipped in sarcasm.
Mark’s expression changed rapidly.
In Zrario, he was considered a man of status. But compared to Cosmo Group, his company was on a completely different level.

Cosmo Group was a rising powerhouse, one of the strongest in the market. Almost every project it touched turned into profit.
People often said Nicole had a rare talent for spotting opportunities.
But there were also rumors. People whispered that a mysterious expert was guiding Cosmo Group from behind the scenes. After all, Nicole was a divorcee; how could she possibly build such a giant on her own?
Rumors were rumors. The truth was simple: Nicole ran Cosmo Group.
And now, Cosmo Group had a major project open for bidding. Every strong company in Zrario was eager for a chance.
That was why Mark chose this hotel for his daughter’s birthday. He hoped to “accidentally” run into Nicole here.
He actually succeeded, but his foolish wife and daughters had ruined everything.
Dammit! He wanted to curse himself.
“Ms. Lane, this is all a misunderstanding,” Mark said quickly, starting to grow panicked. His voice trembled. “I apologize on their behalf. Please don’t hold this against them.”
He was terrified of offending Nicole. If she wanted revenge, Gill Group wouldn’t survive the hit. He knew that too well.
Cassia glanced at him, then gave Nicole a look.
Nicole sighed internally. Fine. It was Mark daughter’s birthday. She would let it go–for today.
“Alright,” Nicole said. “Cassia doesn’t want to argue with you, so I’ll drop it too. But next time, don’t judge people before you know anything.”
Nicole wasn’t joking. Cassia had given her a second opportunity in life; she would protect her fiercely.
If anyone dared bully Cassia, she would fight them head–on, no matter the cost.
Mark finally exhaled in relief. He saw his daughter gearing up to say something and quickly had someone pull her aside before she made things worse.
