“Relax, everyone. Let’s just wait and watch her embarrass herself onstage,” another student whispered with a smug grin.

“Thank you all for joining our school’s annual celebration tonight. We’re almost at the end of the program. For our final performance, please welcome Cassia Wood to the stage for her piano piece.” The host had barely finished speaking when the room burst into applause.

But most people were clapping just to see a disaster.

Some students muttered from their seats and questioned, “How did she get to perform the finale?”

“She only gets good grades by luck. How is she going to pull off a piano act?”

With the whole room doubting her, Cassia walked steadily toward the stage.

She sat at the grand piano, placed her long fingers gently on the keys, and took a silent breath.

A moment later, music poured out–smooth and clear, like water running over stones.

The audience, still restless a second ago, froze on the spot.

Just a single phrase into the song, and the audience hall fell completely silent.

The melody rose and dipped, soft then powerful each note steady and full. It was obvious to anyone listening; this wasn’t beginner’s luck. This was real skill.

“Did she take lessons at the orphanage? Are orphanages this advanced now?

Or did her wealthy sugar daddy pay for her lessons later on?

Danica felt her cheeks burn.

Just earlier, she had bragged in front of Cassia, saying Brie would win for sure.

But now, hearing Cassia’s performance, Danica had to admit it. Cassia might actually get a perfect score.

Danica was fuming inside and unwilling to accept this. Nothing, absolutely nothing, had gone the way she imagined.
