Nicole felt a little intimidated by Curtis. She bit her lip as she glanced at Jeremy for help.

“That’s enough! What nonsense are you spouting? Nicole just came back–she’s the one you’ll spend the rest of your life with,” Harold scolded Curtis sharply.
“What era are we living in? You’re still holding onto your old–fashioned ideas? You still think it’s okay to have more than one woman?” Curtis said, holding Adriana’s hand, with a teasing smirk on his face.
Harold ground his teeth in frustration but managed to hold back his anger.
Adriana’s gaze never left Curtis. He really … knows how to shut people down.
By a river in Harborton.
Irene stepped out of the car and handed a few strands of hair in a sealed plastic bag to a middle–aged man smoking nearby. “Run a DNA test on this. See if she’s my biological niece.”
The man exhaled, eyeing Irene. “You haven’t given up, have you? If Chandler really killed your sister and brother–in–law, do you think he’d let Nicole live as a loose end?”
“I have a feeling … Nicole didn’t die. She’s definitely not dead,” Irene said, her voice choking with emotion.
“After all these years … you still can’t move on,” the man sighed, pulling Irene into a comforting embrace. “I’ll help you check.”
Back at the Barton Estate.
The dinner that evening left everyone simmering with anger.
Kelsey stormed off to her room, fuming, probably in need of some emergency heart medicine.
Meanwhile, Danielle was too angry to cause any more trouble for now.
Matthew spent the whole night stewing silently; the more Curtis doted on Adriana, the angrier he got.
The more Matthew stared at Adriana, the more jealous Natasha became.
Curtis roasted everyone equally and put them in their place, leaving both Jeremy and Harold annoyed.
Everyone was unhappy.
No one had the energy to meddle in anyone else’s business.
Perfect.
Adriana quietly enjoyed several desserts, savoring the chef’s hard work. They were absolutely delicious.
Curtis was thrilled–he’d managed to piss off everyone.

He grinned smugly in his chair, refusing to eat himself, instead continuously feeding Adriana.
Adriana buried her head in her plate, her checks puffed out like a little hamster.
Curtis watched her, smiling, and kept serving her more.
“I can’t eat anymore… ” Adriana tugged at Curtis under the table, whispering softly.
She didn’t want to seem rude by leaving food uneaten, but Curtis kept piling her plate.
Curtis stifled a laugh. “Eat more. You’re too skinny.”
Adriana sighed. What is with this guy?
His happiness seems to be built on everyone else’s discomfort.
Indeed, when Curtis was in a bad mood, he spared no one equally.
Harold scowled, growing more and more irritated by Curtis. “I’m full. I’m leaving.”
He hadn’t even touched his utensils.
“You haven’t started eating … “Jeremy spoke, exasperated.
“I’m full from being pissed off!” Harold snorted, then he got up to leave.
A few steps later, he remembered something and came back to hand Nicole an envelope full of cash. “Nicole, this is a gift from me. You and Curtis are engaged, and you’ll eventually be a Lincoln. This is just rightfully yours.”
Harold deliberately spoke so Adriana and Curtis could hear.
“Grandpa, I didn’t know you were into someone so much younger than you. At your age, it might not be a good idea to remarry. Otherwise, Grandma might come knocking on your door in the middle of the night,” Curtis said, effortlessly provoking him.
Adriana was munching on a salad and almost dropped her fork in shock after hearing what he said.
