Curtis opened the car door and gently guided Adriana inside. “Sit tight and wait for me.”

Suddenly, Curtis remembered something and turned back toward Jeremy, who was still standing by the door talking quietly with Harold. “Jeremy, I don’t want to be paranoid, but you might want to quietly run a few more paternity tests on Nicole. All these years, the Bartons never found her, and now suddenly she’s back? Feels like a bit too much of a coincidence.”
“Sounds like you’re just looking for an excuse not to marry Nicole,” Harold snapped at Curtis, clearly irritated.
“Believe it or not, that’s up to you. At our age, don’t let the younger generation manipulate you. Be careful.” Curtis patted Harold on the shoulder. “Goodbye, Grandpa. Adriana and I are heading out.”
Harold lifted his foot as if to kick Curtis, but Curtis sidestepped, almost making Harold twist his back.
“You brat,” Harold muttered, exasperated, then shook his head and turned back to Jeremy. “Always be cautious. Over the years, plenty of people have claimed to be Nicole. Even if the paternity test is valid, you can’t rule out fraud.”
Jeremy nodded in agreement. “I’ll have it double–checked.”
Inside the car, Adriana stared out the window quietly.
Matthew and Natasha stepped out as well, their faces stormy, clearly showing their hearts weren’t in it
anymore.
Natasha tried to link arms with Matthew, but he instinctively stepped away.
Adriana leaned against the glass, watching them, and let out a wry, ironic smile.
Childhood sweethearts, first loves, buried affections–now she’s just a stain he can’t scrub off,
“Matthew, what exactly is going on? I asked you to come to Harborton to see the exhibit, and you refused. But the moment you hear Adriana is here, you immediately agree, Natasha demanded angrily.
Matthew rubbed his temple. “You’re overthinking it,”
“Fine, I’m overthinking. Then let’s go get our marriage license,/Matthew.” Natasha’s eyes were sharp; she wanted to settle things with him as soon as possible.
She was panicking.
It was obvious to her that Matthew had feelings for Ariana. At the very least, his possessiveness was glaringly obvious.
“It’s too soon to talk about that. Let’s go back first.” Matthew opened the car door for Natasha..
Natasha clenched her hands tightly, remained silent for a long moment, then finally got in.
Matthew didn’t follow her into the car. He glanced at Adriana once, lost in thought.

Chapter 78 Calculated Moves
He leaned against the car door and watched Curtis preparing to get in, offering him a cigarette. “Mr. Lincoln, got a moment to talk?”
“I’ve quit smoking. Adriana hates the smell,” Curtis replied calmly.

Matthew’s eyes darkened as he lit his cigarette alone, the flame flickering against his deep, calculating gaze. “How do I get her back?”
He believed Adriana belonged to him.
He figured that if Curtis voluntarily returned her, he wouldn’t have to go to all this trouble.
“Are you joking? You didn’t appreciate her when she was with you. Now you expect someone else to hand her back? Mr. Langford … you can’t be that naive.” Curtis showed no sign of yielding.
“I heard the Lincolns are planning a new shipping route, bypassing several ports in Lunaria and the Middle East. Such an expensive and time–consuming venture seems unwise, doesn’t it?” Matthew tried to steer the conversation toward business. “The Langfords could open multiple ports and sign long–term partnerships with the Lincolns.”
It would save the Lincolns time, effort, and significant costs.
Establishing a new route and developing new ports wasn’t a task you could solve with just a few hundred million dollars.
“Handing over something so important just to save a bit of money… that’s not wise, Curtis said. his tone low, radiating a natural defiance. “Opening new routes and ports pays off big in the long run.”
Matthew frowned, realizing his leverage in business against Curtis was limited.
