Theron understood and leaned slightly toward the ruler.

“Both of your grandsons already know her,” he said quietly. “If there was ever going to be something romantic there, it would’ve happened by now. Besides, Darrel’s the grandson of one of your oldest brothers-in-arms. If he actually manages to win her heart, that wouldn’t be such a bad thing either.”

The ruler frowned.

“I know that… but I still prefer family ties. It would be better if she became part of my family.”

James almost collapsed on the spot.
