My Alpha Only Ever Said Fine. novel Chapter 5

Chapter 5

The crowd instantly erupted into an uproar.

I barely paid attention to what was happening around me.

Instead, I used the mind link to contact the trial team and confirm tomorrow’s departure time.

Onstage, Asher frowned and slowly shook his head.

Joy’s smile froze.

The excitement in her eyes faded immediately as she said in a listless tone, “Your turn to ask

me something.”

“What’s your favorite food?” Asher asked.

“Shouldn’t you know that better than anyone?” Joy shot back.

Their ambiguous exchange amplified the whispers throughout the ballroom.

The werewolf elites no longer bothered hiding the pity in their eyes whenever they looked at

Theodore’s deep voice cut through the noise.

“The ball should end here. Luna Patricia, Alpha Asher, you should head back and rest.”

I looked up at him. “There’s no need.”

“After tonight, he’s no longer my Alpha.”

I rose to my feet and walked out.

Asher’s gaze followed me all the way to the entrance before the heavy doors shut between

I returned straight to the pack house.

The moment I stepped inside, Asher’s scent overwhelmed the entire space.

“You’re angry?” He moved closer, trying to pull me into his arms.

I sidestepped him. “I’m not.”

Displeasure rippled through his scent.

“You’re lying.” Asher frowned and grabbed my chin, forcing me to look at him.

“Patricia, we’ve been mates for years. I know every expression, every little habit.”

“It’s obvious you’re unhappy right now.”

I said nothing. I just stared back at him in silence.

Something in my dead, empty stare must have rattled him-his heartbeat kicked up, and even

his voice came out unsteady.

“What are you trying to do?”

I actually laughed. “You know me best, don’t you? Then guess.”

Seeing the calm smile on my face, the tension in his body immediately eased.

He let go of my chin, his fingers brushing gently against my cheek.

“I bet you just want me to spend time with you, right?”

“I’ll have Beta postpone all pack matters for the next two days.”

“Didn’t you say before that you wanted to visit the Moon Goddess Temple to pray for our

pup? I’ll go with you.”

I didn’t answer.

But he took my silence as consent and left, satisfied.

I watched his figure retreat into the distance, then mouthed silently, “Goodbye, Alpha Asher.

Forever.”

By early the next morning, Asher was already gone. I didn’t even have to wonder where.

Joy had definitely called for him again.

I packed my things and signed the mate bond termination papers.

Then I placed them on the living room table beside the abortion documents.

The trial team’s vehicle had been waiting outside for a long time.

I got into the car and gave the pack house one final look. The place I’d called home for so

many years.

Then I turned away, feeling strangely relieved.

“Let’s go.”

As the pack house shrank in the distance, I said to Liz in my mind, voice quiet, “We’re going to

find a new future.”

Liz answered with a joyful wolf howl.

Darkness slowly swallowed the sky.

By the time we reached the Blood Moon border, a violent voice suddenly slammed into my

mind.

A mind link from Asher.

He was roaring. “Patricia, you aborted our child-and now you’re trying to break our mate

bond?!”

“Have you lost your mind?!”
