Chapter 126
Chapter 126
Eli
Everyone seems to be holding their breath-my whole entire pack-before they all start talking into the mouth of each other. Suddenly, there’s a commotion around me with people asking me questions I can’t hear and others talking among each other.
“When did you find out Cam was your mate?”
“Where did the Alpha mark you?”
“Oh my god, how could the moon goddess pick HER?”
“Does it matter? She is going to die!”
“Cam will be single again…”
“Wait, so that’s our Luna?”
“I feel sorry for her.”
“We should try to treat her nicely; moon goddess knows she hasn’t had it easy in life.”
“Black sheep of the family…”
“Poor thing with the cancer.”
I take a step back, my gaze landing on my mother. She is gaping up at me, looking like she might say something, but Beta Ken grabs my hand before that happens.
“Pack, doctor, now,” he says, dragging me away from the scene towards his car. Clara and Evie give me their thumbs up, but I don’t give any back since I think I might be in trouble. Ken isn’t being very gentle.
“Hey, you’re hurting me,” I complain after Ken has dragged me into the parking lot.
“I don’t care.”
“Huh?!”
Suddenly, Ken presses me up against a minivan I don’t recognize with his palm covering my mouth. I stare up at his face in terror, frozen in place when a smirk that is highly unlike him curls his lips.
“I found her doctor, the Alpha’s mate. And you know what? She has werewolf cancer-I think she is going to be an interesting prisoner for you. Maybe even a new subject to test medication on since she is sick?”
Ken is…evil?!
My heart pounds frantically as I stare up into his face. I’m trying to make sense of the situation, but I can’t. Ken has always been kind and protective of the pack. I never would have believed him to be evil…what pack does he even belong to? Who is he fighting for? Who hired him?!
All those questions run through my head as I look into the cruel light in his eyes. Every instinct is telling me l’ m in trouble, so I try to scream, to call for help, but his large hand muffles any sound. Panic floods my system as I realize how utterly helpless I am. The cancer has left me weak, and even at full strength, I’d be no match for Ken’s brute force.
“Shh, little Luna,” he croons mockingly. “No need to make a fuss. You’re going on a little trip.”
Hell no!
I thrash wildly, trying to break free, but it’s useless. Ken easily overpowers me, pinning me against the van with his body.
“Now, now,” he chides. “Behave yourself, or this will be much more unpleasant for you.”
I hear someone coming out of the minivan, probably this ‘doctor’ he was talking with, but I don’t have time to see who they are before Ken picks up something from his pocket. It’s a napkin, and it smells…wrong.
“Time to put you to sleep,” Ken whispers. “And when you wake up, we will be far away from here.”

Chapter 126 Wolfsbane?
That’s my last thought before the napkin is pressed to my nose, and I pass out.
Later-probably hours-I wake up inside a prison cell. My eyesight is bad, and I’m lying on a cold floor. It seems like my clothes have been removed and when I lift my head, an old man is watching me. Is it…the doctor?
“Oh, she is waking up,” I hear Beta Ken says from somewhere inside the room.
“She is,” the old man agrees. He has large glasses and is wearing a white lab coat. “I wouldn’t have expected anything less from the mate of an Alpha. She might be suffering from werewolf cancer, but she is still a Luna and much stronger than a regular werewolf when it comes to fighting off wolfsbane. Truly remarkable.”
I try to open my mouth, but it seems the wolfsbane is still in my system. I can’t talk, scream or do anything. Even holding up, my head becomes heavy, and so I let it thud against the hard ground inside the prison cell.
“So…are you going to kill her?” Ken suddenly asks.
