Chapter 106 Confrontation
Seeing the “No Smoking” sign, Lucas grew even more irritated and crushed the cigarette out.
Lucas lifted his hand, pulled out his phone, and made a call. “Find out exactly what happened tonight.”
After hanging up. Lucas pushed open the examination room door and asked, “How is she?”
Katherine sat there expressionless, not even sparing him a glance.
The doctor glanced at the two of them, calmly lowering her head as she wrote the prescription. “Shoulder dislocation. Luckily, there’s no fracture. I reset it just now. She came in a little late, so the arm’s already swollen. Apply ice first to reduce the swelling, then immobilize it with a bandage. She shouldn’t move this arm much for a while.”
After finishing the paperwork, the doctor looked at Katherine again, feeling a pang of sympathy. Such a beautiful woman, and she ended up with an abusive man.
“What caused the shoulder dislocation?” Lucas asked carefully.
The doctor gave him a strange look.
He has the nerve to ask after doing it himself?
Her tone turned noticeably colder. “A strong impact or violent blow. And it’s obvious she kept forcing the arm to move after it was injured, which is why the swelling’s this severe.”
Lucas frowned. The injury must’ve happened on the Ferris wheel-inside the gondola, meaning they’d fought.
And afterward, Katherine had still grabbed Rachel.
Katherine took the prescription without a word and walked out.
Lucas pressed his lips together, shot the oddly hostile doctor a glance, and followed her out.
Only to be stopped by two police officers.
The officers showed their badges and said sternly, “Mr. Grant, you’re suspected of domestic violence. Please come with us for questioning.”
Lucas lifted his eyes and saw Katherine, who had been walking ahead, turn back with a cold glance.
Held back by the police, he watched her figure slowly disappear into the distance.

After leaving the hospital, a car stopped in front of Katherine. A man stepped out, violence radiating from him the moment he saw the state she was in..
The muscles in his arm tensed as he clenched his fist, ready to storm into the hospital.
Katherine showed no visible emotion and grabbed him. “Let’s go back first. I’m tired.”
The man looked at her for a moment before relenting and taking her away.
Back at the hotel, worried her condition might scare Julian and Ethan, Katherine didn’t go to their room and returned to her own instead.
She sat quietly on the sofa for a long time, enduring a crushing ache in her chest, yet no tears
came.
Reaching for her phone, Katherine suddenly remembered she’d lost it on the Ferris wheel.
There was something important on that phone especially the recording.
Katherine couldn’t accept what had happened tonight. Being falsely accused left a bitter taste she couldn’t swallow.
She closed her eyes and tried to recall when she might’ve dropped it, but she didn’t remember seeing the phone fall out of the gondola.
After thinking it through, the phone was probably still inside the cabin. Katherine stood up and headed back to search for it.
Lucas was released not long after being taken to the station. Something like this couldn’t touch him at all.
When Lucas walked out of the police station, his expression was so grim that even Fred didn’t dare look at him, only following silently behind.
“Did you find anything from what I told you to investigate?” Lucas suddenly stopped and asked.
Fred hurried forward nervously. “There was a surveillance camera nearby, but it was broken, so we couldn’t get anything. However, someone who went along tonight said they saw Ms. Hart drag Ms. Pearce onto the Ferris wheel.”
“Katherine didn’t go up on her own?”
“No. Ms. Hart dragged her onto it.”
Lucas fell silent for a moment, as if realizing something. “Go to the hospital.”

Fred had assumed that after Katherine got Lucas dragged into the police station, Lucas would. immediately go settle the score with her. He didn’t expect Lucas to head to the hospital to see Rachel instead.
Fred said, “It’s very late.”
“Go anyway.”
I have to get to the bottom of tonight’s incident.
“Okay.”
At the hospital.
Rachel still wasn’t asleep. Quincy had already gone home, while Ursula stayed behind to keep her company.
When Rachel saw Lucas walk in, her expression stiffened slightly before she quickly sat up. “Lucas, you’re back? How’s Katherine? Is she okay?”
A faint anger burned in Lucas’s eyes. “I have something to ask you.”
Rachel noticed the emotion in his gaze. Panic flickered inside her, though she didn’t show it. “What is it? Is it about tonight?”
“Yeah.”
Rachel lifted her bright and watery eyes. “Lucas tonight was terrifying. I don’t want to talk about it anymore.”
