Julian lifted his head. “Mommy, aren’t you coming with us?”

Ethan quietly crawled back in and whispered, “Mommy’s gone.”

Ivy huddled between her two brothers and asked. “What about us? Mommy told us to stay in Yarbrough, but I’m scared. What if bad Daddy takes Mommy back and they bully her?”

Ethan and Ivy high-fived. “It’s settled.”

Julian was speechless.

Going back was too dangerous. They’d be easily discovered.

From a safety standpoint, he didn’t agree at all.

“Ivy.”

Ivy hugged Julian and asked softly, “Julian, are you scared Mommy will be bullied?”

“I am.”

Ivy nodded again. “Then would you be okay with Mommy being bullied?”
