“You want this room?” Lucas asked.

Katherine nodded, forcing a flattering smile.

Lucas chuckled lightly. “That’s not happening.”

The smile slipped from Katherine’s face. “Can we talk about it?”

Lucas stubbed out his cigarette and stood up. His voice dropped. “I’m going to shower. If you’re not leaving, then stay and sleep here.”

Watching Lucas head into the bathroom, Katherine ran a hand through her hair. Under the bed, Ivy poked her little head out and whispered “Mommy, can we come out now?”

Katherine glanced warily toward the bathroom and made a quiet gesture, signaling her to hide again.

Ivy obediently crawled back under.

They couldn’t stay in this room. Katherine had to move the kids. She quietly opened the door to check if anyone was outside, only to meet Fred’s gaze head-on.

Katherine froze, then forced a bitter smile. “Oh, hey, Fred. It’s so late. Aren’t you going back to sleep?”

Fred stood up from the couch. “I’m waiting for Mr. Grant.”

“I’m waiting to report something important to Mr. Grant.”

“He’s in the shower. Why don’t you go rest first?”

“I can’t. It’s urgent.”

Katherine looked at him, a headache coming on She knew Lucas’s assistant wasn’t someone she could order around.

Soon, Lucas came out of the bathroom. He was wearing a loosely tied black robe, revealing firm, sculpted abs. Water dripped from his hair, his posture relaxed and lazy.

Seeing that Katherine hadn’t left, he raised a brow meaningfully. “You’re still here?”

Her gaze accidentally landed on his abs. Katherine’s cheeks flushed, and she quickly looked

away.

Thinking of Fred, she pointed toward the door. Fred’s outside. He’s looking for you.”

Lucas glanced at her, walked to the door, and opened it.

“What is it?”

“Mr. Grant, we have results on the power outage, but they’re not what we expected.”

Lucas took the tablet Fred handed him and walked toward the study.

Lucas stared at a surveillance screenshot. The image clearly showed three children.

His eyes tightened as he looked at them.

“What are you showing me this for?”

“These are the suspects.”

Lucas raised a brow. “Three kids?”

The photo showed three small figures from behind, about four or five years old, each carrying a bulging backpack.

“Yes. After reviewing the footage, these are the only suspects we could identify. We also traced the hacker’s signal. It shows they’re still in this hotel, very close to us, possibly still on this floor.”

Children. Hackers.

Lucas couldn’t immediately connect the two.

But he was certain of one thing. The attack was targeted. It was aimed directly at them.

Lucas stared at the image again, his gaze dark. The little girl’s back was blurry, but her clothes looked familiar.

Like the kid who’d drawn on his car.

Lucas fell into thought.

The kid who drew on his car, the kid on Katherine’s call, kids showing up at the hotel, kids suspected of hacking…

After finding Katherine, there seemed to be quite a few kids appearing around him.

Maybe it all looked like a coincidence.

But too many coincidences stopped being coincidences altogether.

When Lucas returned to the room, Katherine was gone.
