Julian saw that both Katherine and Ivy had been taken away.

He panicked immediately.

Julian stayed calm. “Don’t panic yet. We’ll find a chance to contact Mommy later. For now, let’s follow them.”

The two kids ran outside, jumped straight into a cab, and told the driver to follow Lucas’s

convoy.

An hour later, the cars stopped at the Grant Estate.

Five years had passed, yet the place looked just as imposing as ever. The Grants were one of Crestburg’s top elite families. The sheer size of the Grant Estate spoke for itself. Just the entrance alone was grand enough to inspire awe

Lucas walked in front, carrying Ivy, while Rachel clenched her teeth in silence.

I never knew Lucas liked children this much. Thankfully, Katherine had never given birth back then.

Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been any place left for me.

Katherine got out of the car. Rachel turned back and stared at her, her tone cold as she warned, “Katherine, don’t think that just because you came back with us, you and Lucas still have a chance. Drop those thoughts. Lucas only brought you back because Elijah wants to see you. There’s no other reason.”

Katherine almost laughed.

She deliberately stopped just to warn me?

Is she worried about Lucas, or just insecure about herself?

Katherine ignored her and walked inside.

Seeing Lucas return, the servants hurried out to greet him. “Mr. Grant, you’re back.”

“Mm,” Lucas replied faintly, handing the little girl in his arms to a sérvant. “Take her to get cleaned up.”

“Is that Lucas?”

Hearing the commotion, a refined woman in a light blue dress with a shawl draped over her shoulders came out.

She was impeccably groomed. Though in her 50s, she looked barely over 40.

She was Lucas’s mother, Sarah.

Seeing Lucas bring back a child, she looked shocked. “Lucas, whose child is that?”

“Picked her up at the airport.”

The light in Sarah Grant’s eyes dimmed. For a moment, she’d thought Katherine hadn’t actually aborted the children back then, and that Lucas had found and brought one of the children home.

Turns out, no.

Just as Sarah was about to speak again, she saw Katherine walk in behind them.

Her expression froze. She stared for several seconds, as if confirming what she was seeing. “Katherine?”

“Mrs. Grant,” Katherine said politely, giving a small nod.

“It really is you!” Sarah strode over, fury flashing in her eyes. “You still dare to come back? Tell me, where are my grandchildren? What did you do with them?”

Back then, when Sarah learned that the grandchildren she’d been longing for were gone, she’d been so angry she fainted on the spot.

For five years, she’d hated Katherine with a passion.

Now that Katherine was standing in front of her all that pent-up anger erupted.

Sarah grabbed Katherine’s arm. “Katherine, where are the children from back then? You didn’t abort them, did you? You lied to us, didn’t you?”

Sarah was emotional. Everyone said Katherine had aborted the children.

But Sarah never believed a mother could be cruel enough to abort her seven-month-old babies.

“Mom,” Lucas spoke up. “Grandpa wants to see her. Let her see Grandpa first.”

“See your grandpa? She actually dares to see him?” Sarah snapped. “He treated her so well

back then, and what did she do? She disappeared without a word. Your grandpa fell seriously ill because of her.”

She’d known this would happen the moment Katherine came back.

Aborting the child was an unforgivable sin in Sarah’s eyes.

Everyone looked up to see Elijah standing on the second floor, leaning on his cane.

His gaze fell on Katherine as he spoke. “Katherine, come up.”
