They were speculating about whether she’d aborted the children, and if she hadn’t, they’d have to bring the kids back to the Grants, even planning to hand them over to Rachel to
raise.
Katherine clenched her fists.
With the maid’s help, Ivy finished her bath and changed into clean clothes.
The moment Ivy ran out of the room, she saw Katherine.
Ivy lit up with excitement.
“Mommy…”
She was still a little far away, and her voice was soft. Katherine didn’t hear her and turned to head downstairs.
Ivy hurried after her, but the maid stopped her.
“Sweetheart, wait a moment. Let me blow-dry your hair.”
“No need. Thank you.”
Ivy ran toward Katherine.
Katherine had already gone downstairs.
Rachel was sitting on the couch. Seeing Katherine come down with a grim expression, she smiled. “So? Realizing how unwelcome you are in this house? If I were you, I’d pack up and leave instead of staying here and bothering everyone.”
Katherine was in no mood to spar with her.
Seeing Katherine ignore her, Rachel’s face darkened instantly.
She hated that calm, detached look on Katherine’s face, that quiet pride in her bones.
Compared to now, she preferred the Katherine she’d known back then, the one who’d looked shattered and pitiful when she learned Lucas was with Rachel, taking care of her mother.
Rachel’s gaze dropped to the bracelet on her wrist.

She curled her lips slightly and lifted her hand, shaking it. This bracelet is so pretty. Lucas said it suits me. What do you think?”
Rachel knew perfectly well the bracelet belonged to Katherine and that it had been left to her by her mother.
Seeing it, Katherine felt a sharp stab in her chest Cold crept into her eyes. “You really like my things that much?”
“Your things? You mean this bracelet?” Rachel stood up and walked over, blinking innocently. “Lucas gave this to me. What right do you have to say it’s yours? Do you have any proof?”
Hearing that Lucas had given it to her, pain flickered through Katherine’s icy gaze.
“Disgusting.”
Rachel lifted her hand happily, admiring the bracelet. “It really is beautiful.”
She leaned close to Katherine’s ear, her voice dripping with provocation. “Katherine, once it’s on my wrist, it’s mine. Not just this bracelet. Lucas is mine too.”
“Is that so?” Katherine raised one brow slightly. “Lucas is yours? He didn’t even sign the divorce agreement back then. Legally, I’m still his wife. Yet here you are calling him yours. What, are you so shameless that you’re saying it out loud now?”
Rachel’s expression changed. “What did you say?
Katherine looked straight at her. “I thought you were impressive. I thought you’d spent these five years standing by Lucas as his rightful wife. Turns out I overestimated you. I gave you five years, and you still didn’t even manage to become Mrs. Grant. So tell me, who exactly you to Lucas? A mistress? A lover?”
“Watch it!”
Rachel was completely provoked.
She knew Lucas hadn’t signed the divorce agreement, but she didn’t care.
After Katherine left, she’d been the only woman by Lucas’s side. She believed Lucas still cared about her.
Everyone already treated her as Mrs. Grant. She’d never corrected them and enjoyed everything that title brought her.
She believed Lucas hadn’t divorced only because Katherine couldn’t be found, making it impossible to finalize things.
