Ivy’s chubby little face was filled with sadness.
I don’t want Mommy and bad Daddy to argue.

Katherine looked at Ivy between them and felt her heart ache. With the child here, she didn’t want to fight with him.
Up on the second floor.
Elijah stood there, his gaze heavy as it fell on Rachel.
He had never liked Rachel. Whether she was decent or vile, Elijah saw clearly.
A woman who knowingly clung to a married man for eight years wouldn’t have great
character.
If not for the ties between the Grants and Harts, he would never have allowed her to stay
here.
“Mr. Elijah, the child Mr. Lucas brought back is really adorable,” George said.
Elijah looked over. Seeing the little pink bundle, warmth softened his eyes. “What did Lucas call that child just now?”
“Ivy.”
“Ivy. That’s a lovely name.” Elijah sighed. “I wonder what Katherine’s children’s genders were.”
“Mr. Elijah, just now, were you testing Mrs. Gran, or are you convinced she didn’t abort the children back then?”
“Based on Katherine’s personality, I don’t believe she’d be able to bring herself to abort the babies, but I can’t be 100% certain, because…”
Because his own grandson was a complete mess
In a moment of rage, Katherine might really have acted impulsively.
Besides, he had checked. There truly was no evidence that she had given birth.
So earlier, it had been more of a test than a conclusion.
“If Katherine really didn’t abort the children, that would be wonderful.”

At lunch, Elijah looked at Ivy with undisguised affection. “Ivy, eat more.”
Ivy sat beside Lucas, one hand holding her plate the other gripping her spoon. She wasn’t shy at all, eating like she was at home, shoveling food nonstop, her little mouth never resting.
If nothing else, Ivy was always number one at eating.
“I love meat,” she said between bites.
“Good, good, eat more meat.” Elijah laughed heartily. “And you can just call me Grandpa.”
“Ahem…” Katherine nearly sprayed her food in shock.
Lucas’s long brows lifted slightly as he looked at her. “What’s wrong?”
Elijah was Lucas’s grandfather.
If Ivy also called Elijah “Grandpa”…
That would completely mess up the family tree.
Katherine tugged at the corner of her mouth. “Nothing. I just choked a bit.”
Elijah smiled and reminded Katherine to eat slowly.
Katherine desperately wanted to grab Ivy and interrogate her about how she’d gotten to Crestburg, and where Julian and Ethan had gone
What, are they set on scaring their poor mom to death
Rachel sat beside Sarah, poking at her food with her fork, her eyes locked on Katherine and Ivy as if she wanted to burn holes through them
This is driving me insane.
I don’t just have to deal with Katherine.
Now, some random kid showed up out of nowhere to help Katherine gang up on me.
This is infuriating.
Absolutely infuriating!
After lunch, Lucas told Fred to keep trying to contact Ivy’s parents.

Katherine had planned to leave right after lunch Before Melissa passed, she’d left Katherine a small villa, not very large, a little over 1,000 square feet, three floors total. Katherine still needed to finalize the divorce with Lucas, so she expected to stay in Crestburg for a while and planned to live there temporarily.
But with Ivy still here with Lucas, how could she leave?
She had to find a way to take Ivy with her.
Ivy wanted to play in the garden, and Katherine took the opportunity to go out as well.
From the shadows, Rachel stared hard at their retreating figures. She walked up to Lucas and called softly, “Lucas…”
Her beautiful face had been marred by the two slap marks, but it only made her look more pitiful and fragile. Looking like that, she didn’t need to do a thing to make people want to protect her.
Rachel’s gentle weakness, contrasted with Katherine’s sharp strength during their conflict, always made it seem like Katherine was the bully
That was exactly what Lucas thought today.
“Lucas, I’m sorry. I wasn’t good enough. If I’d been more patient with Katherine, we wouldn’t have clashed today and upset your family.”
Lucas glanced sideways at her. “You shouldn’t have talked about Katherine’s parents.”
“I…” Rachel bit her lip, looking wronged. “But she insulted me first…”
“That’s enough. It’s over. Don’t bring it up again. Lucas’s voice was calm, his handsom thin with indifference.
Rachel felt deeply aggrieved. Thinking about Katherine saying that Lucas hadn’t signed t divorce papers, Rachel grew anxious.
She moved a little closer to Lucas and said, “Lucas, back then, when Katherine left, you didn’t have the chance to go to the courthouse to finalize the divorce. Now that she’s back, you two should go and get the divorce certificate.”
As she spoke, Rachel watched Lucas closely, testing his reaction.
When Lucas heard this, irritation surged inside him.
He turned to look at Rachel. The coldness in his eyes made her freeze; the words she wanted to say stuck in her throat.
