“A small thing?” Katherine blinked innocently. “Being falsely accused is a small thing? Don’t you owe me an apology?”

“You want me to apologize to you?” Rachel raised her voice.

“What else?

“In your dreams.”

“Fine, then let’s check the security footage.”

Katherine lifted her slender brows, completely unafraid.

I’m sorry!”

Katherine deliberately cupped a hand to her ear. “I can’t hear you.”

Rachel clenched her teeth hard. “SORRY! I! AM! SORRY!”

That single sentence seemed to drain all the strength out of Rachel’s body.

Only then did Katherine look satisfied. “It’s fine. Just be more careful next time.”

Rachel was seething, her teeth clenched with hatred.

That damn woman. That bitch. Just you wait.

Katherine curved her lips, stepped out of Lucas’s arms, and walked out of the kitchen.

Lucas glanced at the kettle and Rachel’s soaked clothes.

Everything was obvious, yet he said nothing and simply walked away.

After dinner, Katherine was leaving.

Ivy raised her chubby little hand and waved reluctantly. “Bye, Katherine.”

Katherine smiled. “Bye, Ivy.”

Lucas was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window on a call. Watching their interaction, his eyes narrowed slightly.

He really wanted to know whether he was overthinking the connection between Katherine and this child, or whether, like earlier, Katherines acting was just that good.

After Katherine left. Ivy curled up on the couch and lazily yawned.

She had a habit of sleeping early and waking early, and now she was clearly getting sleepy.

Ivy walked over and tugged at Lucas’s sleeve.

“I’m sleepy.”

Lucas looked at the little girl rubbing her eyes and gestured to the nearby maid. “Take her to

bed.”

Grant Estate had a kids’ room, prepared long ago for children who never came. It had stayed empty all this time.

Louisa came over and led Ivy to the room.

Ivy liked being clean and always bathed before sleeping.

Louisa prepared her clothes and brought them into the bathroom.

Inside, Ivy sat in the bubble-filled bathtub, letting Louisa wash her, even lifting her little chin

to cooperate.

When Sarah heard that Lucas had let Ivy stay in the children’s room, she stormed over angrily. That room was meant for her own grandchildren. Why should this little girl stay there?

Seeing Sarah outside, Ivy called out clearly, “Grandma!”

That single word made Sarah freeze mid-step.

Ivy looked at her with big, fluttering eyes full of sincerity.

Sarah almost responded instinctively.

But she stopped herself.

This isn’t my granddaughter.

Only my own grandchildren can call me Grandma.

This little girl was good at winning people over. I cant let myself be fooled.

Sarah stared at her for a few seconds, then ignored her, saying nothing more.

Fine. Let her stay one night. It’s not a big deal.

She remembered seeing that mark somewhere Before.

Sarah stepped closer and looked carefully.

If she remembered correctly, Katherine seemed to have a birthmark with the same shape.

This child really has a strange connection with Katherine; even their birthmarks look alike.

Sarah walked out.

Lucas’s low voice rang out. “Mom.”

Seeing him, Sarah asked, “Lucas, do you remember Katherine having a birthmark on her shoulder?”

“A birthmark? What birthmark?”

Lucas frowned.

Back when he was married to Katherine, their intimacy was rare. He’d never paid attention to her body and had no idea whether she had any birthmarks.

Sarah tugged lightly at her lips.

Her son, not knowing whether his wife of eight years had a birthmark, left her speechless.
