Lucas grabbed Katherine’s wrist, and her heart lurched.

“Let go of me. What are you doing?”

Lucas pulled Katherine into a lounge room. His deep eyes fixed on her. “That’s what I should be asking you. What were you trying to do tonight?”

“Don’t tell me this wasn’t your doing.”

It had been too obvious. Too bold.

Katherine felt she could not defend herself.

Even though she truly had not done it, she was just as confused.

Lucas knew she could not have done it alone. Just the fireworks still going off outside were beyond what Katherine could afford.

It was not that he looked down on her.
