Katherine shook her head and handed the hourglass-shaped vase to Olivia. “This vase has an issue. Contact the consignor.”

“Huh?” Olivia froze. “Cath, these were already authenticated. They confirmed there were no problems.”

Katherine removed her white gloves. This particular hourglass-shaped vase was difficult to authenticate. Unless you examined it carefully, nothing seemed wrong. But Katherine knew that only three vases with this specific pattern existed in the world. This one was not genuine.

Olivia hesitated for a moment. “Okay.”

Katherine had originally intended to keep inspecting the other items when suddenly a large hand grabbed her and pulled her into a quiet partitioned space. A strong arm wrapped around her waist from behind.

Her breath hitched. She widened her eyes at the man in front of her.

“Lucas?”

Lucas curled his lips. “Ms. Cath still remembers me?”

He had scared her half to death. She shoved him hard. “Are you crazy? Let go of me.”

“Come with me. I need to talk to you.”

“I’m working.”

“Work can pause.”

Katherine struggled to break free, but she bumped into the cabinet behind her. It creaked loudly, making her scalp prickle.

“What was that sound?” There were still people in the warehouse. Hearing the noise, they began walking in this direction.

Katherine’s breathing tightened. Right now she was not Katherine. She was Cath. If anyone saw her locked in an intimate embrace with Lucas, who knew what rumors would spread?

It was Chloe’s voice.

“Where did she go?”

Someone answered, “I think she went toward the jewelry section.”

Katherine heard footsteps approaching and grew even more anxious. Chloe had been looking for chances to undermine her. If she saw this, it would create endless trouble.

Katherine did not want that. She glared up at Lucas. “Let go of me.”

Lucas raised a brow and smiled. “Shh. Don’t talk. Kiss me. Kiss me, and I’ll let you go.”

Katherine froze. Her beautiful eyes stared at him in shock, as if asking whether he had lost his mind.

Lucas stared back at her. After tasting her kiss that night, he found himself craving it. “Are you going to kiss me or not?”

“Get lost.”

“Then we stay right here and wait for everyone to see Ms. Cath sneaking around with Lucas at the auction house.”

Katherine clenched her teeth. “Have you no shame?”

“You want it?”

Katherine fell silent.

“Well? Kiss me?”

The footsteps grew closer. “Cath, what are you hiting for? Did you realize you made a mistake, and now you’re feeling guilty?”

Katherine’s heart pounded wildly. It truly felt like she was having an illicit affair. Lucas’s arm held her tightly, their posture dangerously intimate.

Lucas had only meant to tease her. He never actually expected her to kiss him.

The next second, Katherine rose onto her toes and, through the veil, brushed a quick kiss against his lips.
