My CEO HUSBAND sign the divorce novel Chapter 287

Chapter 287: Backfired

I let out a bitter, humourless laugh.

Alexander simply looked at me as though I’d suddenly gone mad.

"Seriously, Alexander?"

"I’m only doing what’s best for Aimy."

"And what makes you think you have the right to decide that for her?"

"Alicia..."

"Yes, you’re her father."

"But what do you even know about her?"

"What makes you think you can just come back into our lives and start making decisions for us?"

The words left my mouth before I could stop them.

For the briefest moment, I saw the hurt flash across Alexander’s face.

Then, just as quickly, it disappeared behind the cold, unreadable expression he always wore.

But I didn’t care.

There were plenty of places where Aimy could receive treatment.

It didn’t have to be Velaridge City.

If he thought he could use this opportunity to take my daughter away from me...

Then he was wrong.

"What else do you suggest we do?" Alexander asked, his voice calm but firm.

"Leave her here to keep suffering?"

I looked up at him, my eyes blazing with irritation.

Although neither of us was speaking loudly, our conversation had already attracted the attention of a few passersby.

People glanced at us curiously before continuing on their way.

I barely noticed them.

The only thing on my mind was making this man understand that he could never separate me from my daughter.

"Velaridge City isn’t the only option," I challenged.

"Oh?"

"So you already have a way to transport her safely..."

"And arrange the treatment she’ll need?"

I opened my mouth...

But no words came out.

Because, as much as I hated to admit it...

He was right.

My family here was wealthy.

But compared to the Blackwood family...

There was no comparison.

Not to mention the connections Alexander had.

We were still in Rosewood Town, yet I was certain he had already arranged the best doctors and the best treatment Aimy could possibly receive.

He even had a private jet that could get her there far more quickly and safely than anyone else.

Seeing my silence, Alexander let out a quiet sigh.

I could see the frustration in his eyes slowly fading.

He stepped a little closer, and when he spoke again, his voice was much gentler.

"I’m not going to separate you from Aimy."

"I could never do that."

"I just want what’s best for her."

He paused briefly before continuing.

"If you don’t want to stay in Velaridge City, I won’t force you."

"It’ll only be for a few days until Aimy has fully recovered."

Then his tone became firm once more.

"But if you think I’ll stand by and watch my daughter suffer here when I have the ability to give her the best treatment..."

"Then you’re wrong."

My gaze slowly dropped to the floor.

There was nothing left to think about.

Alexander was right.

It would only be for a few days.

And what kind of mother would I be...

If I wasn’t willing to make that sacrifice for my daughter?

Alexander seemed to understand that I’d been convinced.

"Let’s go inside," he said quietly.

"You should get some rest."
