"Why are you staring?"
Alicia’s soft, sleepy voice pulled me back.
I watched as her brown eyes slowly fluttered open. She blinked several times, adjusting to the morning light.
"Good morning," I greeted softly.
She smiled.
"Morning."
I gently tucked a loose curl behind her ear before she asked,
"Why are you still here? Won’t you be late for work?"
I noticed her lips were still slightly swollen and gently brushed my thumb across them.
"How can I leave with you looking like this?"
Then I leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on her lips.
"I feel like starting all over again."
Her eyes widened as she instinctively moved back a little, exposing more of her shoulder.
"Don’t you ever get tired?"
I smiled.
"Of you?"
"Never."
She narrowed her eyes, letting out a sleepy yawn that made it obvious she was still exhausted.
I leaned down and kissed her slender shoulder.
"Thank you."
This time, my voice became completely serious.
She looked at me in confusion.
"For what?"
"For giving me another chance."
"For last night."
"For loving me"
"For giving me everything."
She gently placed a finger against my lips.
"Don’t."
"I didn’t do anything."
"In fact..."
"I owe you an apology for making you suffer so much."
I slowly shook my head.
"I could never blame you, Alicia."
"Not after everything you went through... and still chose to give me the happiness no one else ever could."
"You gave me a family."
"You gave me a daughter."
"You gave me the happiness I lost together with my mother a long time ago."
"And now..."
"I’ll make sure you have that same happiness too."
She quietly studied my face before snuggling closer, hiding her face against my chest as I gently stroked her soft hair.
After a while, I heard her whisper so softly I almost missed it.
"Thank you too..."
"Thank you for loving me."
I smiled and placed a gentle kiss on top of her head, the faint scent of her vanilla shampoo calming me even further.
A quiet breath escaped my lips.
I was grateful she hadn’t asked why I’d broken down in tears the previous night.
Because...
How could I ever explain just how deeply she affected me—
Not only physically...
Or emotionally...
But mentally as well?
After a while, I gently pulled away.
"I’ll go check on Aimy."
"Go back to sleep."
She nodded, her eyelids already growing heavy again.
I adjusted the duvet over her shoulders, stole one last kiss from her lips, then finally forced myself to climb out of bed.
My gaze wandered across the clothes scattered around the floor, and a faint smile tugged at my lips as memories of the previous night replayed in my mind.
I slipped into my boxers and a T-shirt before heading into the bathroom for a quick shower.
Since it was still early, I knew none of the staff would be around this side of the villa yet.
After showering, I wrapped a towel around my waist, quietly left the room, and returned to the master bedroom to get ready for the day.
Alicia’s POV
A few hours after Alexander left, I woke up and reached for my phone. When I checked the time, I realized it was already 10:00 a.m.
I immediately sat upright and glanced around the room.
I hadn’t even checked on Aimy yet, and I was surprised she hadn’t come looking for me either.
Wrapping the duvet tightly around my body, I swung my legs over the side of the bed,but I wasn’t prepared for the ache and soreness that spread through my entire body.
I winced and sat there for a moment, allowing myself to adjust before carefully standing up and making my way to the bathroom.
Standing before the mirror, I quietly studied my reflection.
My hair was slightly messy, my cheeks still carried a faint blush, and my lips remained a little swollen.
