Chapter 260
My Cheating Mate
Connor pov
I shouldn’t have been in this room.
Alpha Jeremy had made that clear when I’d asked to observe Elena Frost’s interrogation. “Connor, you’re Grace’s mate. You’re too emotionally involved. This isn’t-”
“She helped plan an assault that tried to kidnap my mate,” I’d said. “She coordinated with Marcus Dane to set traps that nearly killed Lord Castellan. Alpha Jeremy, I’m already emotionally involved. Let me watch. Please.”
“1
He’d agreed reluctantly. So now I stood in the observation area behind one-way glass, watching Alpha Jeremy question the last surviving Preservation Front leader.
Elena Frost sat across from him, handcuffed but somehow still projecting confidence. She was older than I’d expected-maybe mid-forties, though with wolves it was hard to tell. Dark hair pulled back severely. Cold blue eyes that tracked Alpha Jeremy’s movements with predatory focus.1
And she was smiling. Not broadly. Just a slight smirk that said she knew something we didn’t.
It made my wolf pace. Made my instincts scream that this was wrong, she was dangerous, we should eliminate the threat now
before-
“Miss Frost,” Alpha Jeremy said calmly. Too calmly. “Marcus Dane is dead. Your father is dead. The Preservation Front’s assault on my pack failed catastrophically. You’re the last surviving leadership. I’d suggest cooperation.” 1
“Cooperation.” Elena’s voice was cultured. Educated. Absolutely chilling in its pleasantness. “Alpha Trent, why would! cooperate? I’ve already lost. Marcus is dead. Thomas is dead. The organization I’ve spent twenty years building is destroyed. What possible incentive do I have to help you?”
“Reduced sentencing. Council consideration of your circumstances. The possibility of rehabilitation instead of permanent exile or execution.” Alpha Jeremy leaned forward. “Elena, you’re forty-three years old. You have potentially centuries ahead of you. Don’t waste them on ideology that’s already failed.”
She laughed. Actually laughed, the sound echoing in the interrogation room. “Rehabilitation Alpha Trent, do you honestly believe I can be rehabilitated? That therapy and integration education will somehow undo twenty years of commitment to preserving supernatural tradition?”
“Courtney Vex is being rehabilitated. She was less committed than you and younger, yes. But the Council biteves in the possibility of change.”
“Courtney Vex was a child playing at extremism because her father told her to.” Elena’s smirk widened. “I’m not Courtney: I’m a true believer, Alpha Trent. I don’t oppose integration because I was taught to. I oppose it because I’ve studied sapernatural history for decades and understand what mixing species actually creates.”
“And what does it create?” Alpha Isremy’s voice remained level.
“Weakness. Confusion. The erosion of distinct supernatural cultures that have existed for millenia.” She leaned back t chair, relaxed despite the handcuffs. “Alpha Trent, your daughter is a perfect example. Grace doesn’t inderstand what pack culture actually is because she’s been raised in a household that normalized vampire presence. She thinks and Castellan whiting at wolf farelly dinners is acceptable. Natural She doesn’t comprehend that she’s been indoctrinated in
that will
ultimately destroy everything wolves have built
My hands clenched into fists. Beside use in the observation room, Victoria made a hive sound of disgant
“That’s not indoctrination,” she muttered “Phat’s Just-family: Grace grew up with Lord Castellan borse he’s her uncle That’s not ideology That’s love”

On screen, Alpha Jeremy’s expression hadn’t changed. “Elena, Grace understands pack culture perfectly. She’s been raised in a pack Trained in pack traditions. Taught pack history. The only difference is she also knows vampire history because her uncle taught her. That’s not erosion That’s expansion.”
“You really believe that, don’t you?” Elena studied him with something like pity. “Alpha Trent, in three generations-maybe four-there won’t be distinct wolf packs anymore. There will be integrated communities where species boundaries mean nothing. Where a wolf can’t tell you what makes them wolf instead of vampire or witch or fae because everything’s been mixed until distinctions are meaningless.”
“And you see that as a problem.”
“I see that as the death of wolf culture. The end of thousands of years of tradition and identity and pack bonds that mean something specific.” She paused. “But you don’t care. Because you’ve already decided your daughter’s right to have a vampire uncle matters more than preserving what wolves have been for millennia.”
“I’ve decided that love matters more than arbitrary rules about who can be family.” Alpha Jeremy’s voice finally showed emotion -quiet anger underneath the control. “Elena, the Preservation Front tried to kidnap my daughter. Tried to use her as a hostage to force me to end my alliance with Lord Castellan. You coordinated that assault. You helped Marcus plan the traps that nearly killed a vampire who’s been part of my family for eighteen years. You’re not defending tradition. You’re justifying terrorism.”
