For me, a quarterly competition would be best. That way, it keeps the warriors on their toes and forces them to stay strong in the ‘off season‘. The others are still unsure if that’s too much, wanting to give the winning a pack a year of bragging rights. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to incorporate both, but I haven’t quite figured it out yet.

‘Why don’t we have qualifying competitions quarterly. If you pass, you’re entered into the annual competition. If you don’t, you can try to qualify again in the next competition. That way, everyone has a chance to participate, the packs won’t be reduced to almost no warriors at any given time, and only the best compete in the annual games,‘ my mate says as we run back to the pack. She’s on Derric’s back and while I never close my mind to her, I wasn’t actively speaking to her. She must have tuned in to give her input.

‘You’re welcome,‘ she says smugly, making me laugh.

I’m about to tell her just how I plan to reward her for her good idea when Derric catches a scent and growls a menacing growl.

‘Hold on!‘ I say to Nikki as Derric pushes hard to get to the pack borders.

‘Alpha, what is it?‘ the warriors ask as Derric howls the alarm.

‘Camden. I just caught his scent. We need to get your Luna to safety

then I want him hunted down,‘ I snarl.

Half of the warriors surround me, and the other half begin searching for the scent. Reese’s wolf, Sid, comes racing out of the pack lands.

‘I’ll take the hunt, you get our Luna safe,‘ he says, taking off to go after Camden.

We pass the borders and I hear Sid snarling angrily. I tune into his mind and see Camden, standing inside Aiden’s borders, taunting Reese while Aiden’s warriors prepare to attack mine.

“You’re too slow, Beta. Maybe next time?” Camden smirks.

I feel Reese prepare to attack.

‘REESE! There’s too many of them. If he’s inside Aiden’s pack borders, leave him and return to the pack. We need to increase the patrols on our borders.‘

I feel him reluctantly begin to retreat, Camden continuing to taunt him as he leaves, following along the border until he gets close to our border and my patrols line up, ready to attack if he crosses the boundary.

Reese comes rushing back into the pack lands as I lay down, letting Nikki get off of Derric. I can feel her unease, bordering on fear, but she’s holding it back so the pack can’t smell it.

I wrap my arms around her just as Reese rushes up and shifts. “I hate that fucking prick,” he says.

“That makes two of us,” my mate says, still tucked against my side.

Chapter 369

I don’t like my mate feeling nervous, and I definitely don’t like that it’s because of some prick who thinks he can take what’s mine.

Aiden

“What the fuck are you doing?” I ask my Beta. Koden is right, Camden’s losing his shit. Taunting Robin’s Beta isn’t my idea of an intelligent move. It wouldn’t take much for Robin to wage war on me and if he did, he’d now have at least one, possibly more Alphas and packs behind him. So, Camden’s pompous actions are pissing me off.

“Oh come on. Reese isn’t exactly a strong Beta,” he says, completely unperturbed by what he just did.

“Really? Because Koden said he made it to the final two of the competition and that battle lasted for hours,” I growl, watching as his face twists into anger.
