My Child and I Married a Billionaire novel Chapter 205

Chapter 205: Chapter 205: Not Everyone in a Luxury Car is Tall, Rich, and Handsome

By the time he got outside, Cecelia Archer was already pulling Grace Sterling into a car.

Afraid he would miss her, Wyatt Wynn frantically called Damien Vaughn as he jumped into his own car.

"Damien, I’ve spotted Cecelia Archer! I’m chasing her now, so get over here, fast!"

Having successfully completed her task, Cecelia Archer called President Sterling to report in.

Hearing that his darling daughter had been found and would be home soon, President Sterling was thrilled and full of praise for Cecelia Archer’s efficiency.

"No wonder you became Shane Grant’s assistant at such a young age. You’ve really got what it takes. Don’t worry, I’m a man of my word. Bring Grace back to me safe and sound, and I’ll sign the contract with you tonight!"

"Thank you, President Sterling. We’ll be there soon. We won’t keep you waiting."

After she hung up, Grace Sterling scrambled over to face Cecelia Archer and shrieked.

"You don’t work for my dad’s company, do you? What do you really do? You lied to me! And you said my dad would fire you if I didn’t cooperate! You have no integrity!"

Cecelia Archer’s expression was impassive. "How am I being dishonest? If you don’t cooperate, your dad won’t sign the contract with me. If your dad doesn’t sign the contract, my boss will fire me. If my boss fires me, I’ll have no money and I’ll have to go to Lena for help. Doesn’t it all amount to the same thing?"

"Miss Sterling, don’t get bogged down in the details. The long and short of it is, you cooperate with me, and I’ll cooperate with you. For the sake of our shared goal, let’s both just behave, shall we?"

"Hmph. You’re hardly the honest one here."

Grace Sterling scoffed at her irritably, leaned back against her seat, and decided she couldn’t be bothered to talk to her anymore.

Cecelia Archer shot her a glance, then looked away, preparing to change lanes and pick up speed.

But as she glanced at her rearview mirror, she noticed a car had been following them.

She wasn’t sure if it was a coincidence or if they just happened to be headed to the same destination, but wherever she turned, the car followed. It kept a steady distance, and it seemed to have been on their tail ever since they’d left the hotel.

Cecelia Archer glanced at the car’s make and license plate, calmly flicked on her turn signal, and looked for a chance to change lanes.

Unexpectedly, the moment she moved over, the car behind her followed suit.

Her expression calm, she started to overtake another vehicle. The car behind her did the same.

She slowed down. The car behind her also slowed down.

She changed lanes again. The car behind her followed.

Halfway to their destination, Cecelia was certain. The car behind was deliberately tailing them.

"Who did you come with tonight?"

Since they hadn’t spoken for a while, Grace Sterling was reluctant to answer the sudden question.

"What’s it to you?"

"A car has been tailing us this whole time. You tell me if that has anything to do with me."

"What? A car is tailing us? Don’t tell me someone’s trying to kidnap me!"

Grace Sterling instantly perked up, turning around and leaning over her seat to look out the back window.

"You don’t mean that Aston Martin, do you?"

Cecelia Archer asked, "It’s not one of your friends?"

"I wish!" Grace Sterling sat back down huffily. "My dad is always saying my friends are low-class, just a bunch of riff-raff."

At this, she shot Cecelia Archer a meaningful glance.

"Aren’t you overthinking this? Do you always have to be so dramatic? The kind of person who can afford a car like that is on another level. Why would they be interested in a little assistant like you? What would they want with you? You think they’re trying to hit on you?"

"Just because someone’s driving a luxury car doesn’t mean they’re rich and handsome. It could be a chauffeur... or a car thief."

Cecelia Archer ignored her taunts and slowly pulled the car over to the side of the road.
