"Fine, then. Go ahead. Tell me what you came to say today. Try to be quick and concise. This place has a one-hour seating limit. Once our hour is up, we have to leave, and I won't be interested in listening to you anymore."
Hannah finished with a smile and looked at him, waiting.
When Lionel heard about the one-hour time limit, he became even more certain that Hannah was doing this on purpose.
She must have specifically chosen this crowded, time-restricted restaurant right after he told her staff he wanted to see her.
It wasn't, as she claimed, booked yesterday. But arguing about it now was pointless.
Seeing his stunned expression, Sandra hastily spoke up.
"I'll go first. I only have one thing to say. About that… you know, that thing. It was Quennel. Not him. I was lying to you that day."
Sandra was afraid that if she didn't speak up quickly, Lionel would waste all their time with his pointless rambling, and then she would get blamed when nothing was said.
She had to get her one sentence out first.
With so many people around, they couldn't speak explicitly about the incident, but everyone at the table knew what she was referring to, so she kept it vague.
But to her dismay, Hannah, whether intentionally or not, just looked at her with a bewildered expression and tilted her head.
