In the beginning, the Temples believed every letter and message, sending money and dispatching investigators.
But they soon discovered that all of them were frauds. After that, they handed any such messages over to a specialized team.
They couldn't afford to ignore even the slightest possibility, just in case a genuine clue was hidden among the lies.
If they missed a real lead, the consequences would be unthinkable.
However, after a few years, messages about Cheryl became rare. Hardly anyone contacted them anymore.
It seemed everyone knew that using Cheryl's disappearance as a scam no longer worked on them.
It was baffling that after all this time, someone was trying to use the same old trick again.
But regardless, since a message had arrived, they had to investigate it thoroughly. What if, by some miracle, she was really in their hands?
“Hannah, what are you thinking? Don’t tell me you’re planning to go alone. This is obviously a trap. People have been trying to scam our family like this for years.”
Seeing Hannah’s silence, Samuel grew even more worried.
Was she really planning on walking into this by herself? It was incredibly dangerous. What if they had an ambush waiting for her?
Just as Hannah was about to speak, Cherry came downstairs.
She walked over to Hannah, glanced at the photo and the letter, and then, as if an idea had struck her, she chuckled.
“Leave it to you to come up with something so devious. But I have to admit, it’s the best plan we’ve got.”
At first, Samuel thought it was too cruel, but then he thought about everything Lionel had done to Hannah, and this seemed like nothing in comparison.
Most importantly, he was a Rosenberg.
Even if he got hurt, the Rosenbergs would never let it slide.
In fact, the kidnappers might just confess everything when they realized they were dealing with a Rosenberg.
Either way, sending Lionel was a much better option than sending Hannah.
