Back at the villa, Emily had the chef prepare lunch using the fish they’d caught that morning.
In the afternoon, Vanguard Automotive held its scheduled conference. Emily found herself seated among her colleagues from Vertex International. When Andrew Lane entered, he paused at the doorway, his eyes scanning the room before landing squarely on her. Even with her head down, Emily could feel the intensity of his gaze.
He chose a seat on the opposite side of the room.
Emily let out a quiet sigh of relief. As she looked up, Elizabeth Wilson nudged her with her shoulder. She followed Elizabeth’s glance toward another entrance and saw Benjamin Gomez and Juliana Silva walking in together, smiling and greeting other attendees. Juliana had a gentle, graceful demeanor and a soft voice, carrying herself with an easy elegance that was a world away from Isabella Austin’s, though their tones were strikingly similar.
Their eyes met Emily’s.
Benjamin and Juliana approached them. Juliana’s gaze was soft, her voice warm. “Ms. Blair, this is the second time we’ve met.”
Emily offered a polite smile. “Yes, I wasn’t expecting you and Mr. Gomez. Are you also interested in this project?”
Benjamin raised an eyebrow. “It’s a big pie. Naturally, I want a slice.”
“We saw you this morning,” Juliana added, “but you left before we had a chance to say hello.”
Andrew wasn’t far, so it only took them a moment to reach him. With their backs to her, Emily could only gauge the interaction from Andrew's expression. He looked as cool and composed as ever, showing no particular warmth but no overt coldness either. Everything seemed perfectly normal. After a brief exchange, Benjamin and Juliana found seats elsewhere.
Emily looked away, but just then, Andrew’s gaze snapped toward her, his dark eyes deep and unreadable. She calmly turned her head.
Tristan conference lasted for two hours, during which Emily and her team gathered a significant amount of information and had already formed the basic outline of a proposal. As they were getting up to leave, they were reminded of the dinner party Vanguard Automotive was hosting at the resort that evening. Wanting to organize her thoughts, Emily decided to hold a quick meeting with her staff first.
By the time they had finalized their initial framework, the party was already starting. It was a casual affair, more for relaxation than business. The cat theme continued, with servers dressed in feline-inspired attire circulating through the hall. When Emily arrived, the ballroom was already buzzing with activity, with various games set up by the hosts adding to the lively atmosphere.
