My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 180

Roy silently nodded, sensing the dangerous calm in David’s voice. When he left the office, he immediately called Lily’s lawyer.

“Mr. Hardison has added a condition regarding the divorce settlement,” Roy said professionally. “The debt of thirty million that Mr. Hardison covered for Mr. Collins, Miss Collins’s father must be repaid. According to relevant business laws and the terms of their prior agreement, Mr. Hardison has the right to reclaim that amount after divorce.”

He paused, flipping through the documents David had handed him. “There’s also a list of all financial investments Mr. Hardison made into the Collins family company attached. If Miss Collins wants the divorce finalized, the total must be settled.”

The lawyer remained silent for a few moments before replying stiffly, “Understood. I’ll inform Miss Collins.”

When Roy ended the call, he leaned back in his chair for a second, exhaling heavily. Even he could feel the weight of what David was doing.

He returned to David’s office and quietly said, “It’s done, sir. Her lawyer has been informed.”

David didn’t look up from his desk. He only gave a faint nod and muttered, “Good. Let’s see how badly she wants her freedom.”

Roy nod and left.

When the office door closed, David leaned back against his desk, his chest tightening. He looked down at the papers again, her neat signature already waiting for his beside the dotted line.

He could have signed them right then. Ended everything. But for some reason, his hand didn’t move. Instead, he folded the papers carefully and locked them back in the drawer.

“She won’t get rid of me that easily,” he muttered under his breath.

When Lily’s plane landed in City M, she was exhausted. The entire flight she hadn’t really slept, her head full of messy thoughts David’s face, his words, the way he’d held her last night like she still belonged to him. She hated that her heart reacted even when her mind screamed no.

She had just turned her phone back on when it started ringing. She frowned, answering it anyway.

“Miss Collins, this is your lawyer,” came the voice on the other end.

Her heart skipped a beat. “Yes, what is it?” she asked, gripping her bag tighter.

“I’ve just received a call from Mr. Hardison’s assistant. Mr. Hardison has agreed to proceed with the divorce.”

Lily froze on the spot, unable to speak for a few seconds. The crowd around her rushed past, people greeting others, phones ringing, the sound of luggage rolling but all she heard was that one sentence echoing in her head.

He agreed?

Just last night he had said, “I’ll never give you a divorce.” She could still hear his cold voice in her ear, his arm around her waist like iron. And now he agreed?
