My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 206

“Jabco… you were right…”

The words froze the air in the room. David’s eyes darkened, the silence thick enough to break.

He stared at her for a long time before speaking, his voice calm but heavy.

“Who did you just call out?”

He didn’t shout, but that quiet tone was even more frightening. Lily didn’t answer. Her eyes stayed closed, maybe pretending to sleep or maybe truly asleep.

David touched her chin gently but firmly, trying to wake her. “Lily, who were you talking to just now?”

Her eyes fluttered open. Still half-dreaming, she looked at him with tears in her eyes and whispered in a broken voice, “Jabco… I should’ve listened to you and left. I regret it so much…”

David’s expression changed. “Run away? With Jabco? Regret?”

No one answered. Only her soft sobs filled the room.

His hands curled into fists at his sides. “For five years, you said nothing. And now you regret it?” His voice trembled with suppressed anger.

Lily blinked through the tears, slowly realizing who stood in front of her. Her head hurt, and she tried to turn away. “David… please don’t. Just leave me alone,” she said weakly.

Her words struck him like a blade. The anger he’d tried to control began to shake loose. “Leave you alone? You think you can just walk away?”

Lily didn’t answer. She looked small, broken, her body trembling.

David froze. For a long moment, he said nothing. The fury drained from his face, replaced by something unreadable guilt, pain, maybe both. Then he suddenly noticed her hand clutching her stomach, her face twisting in pain.

“Lily?” he said quickly, stepping closer. “What’s wrong?”

She gasped softly, trying to hold back tears. “My stomach… it hurts…”

David’s expression changed instantly. All his anger vanished. He reached for her hand and pressed it gently, panic rising in his chest. “Lily, stay still. I’ll call someone. Don’t move.”

He hurried to grab his phone, his heart pounding with fear as her breathing grew unsteady.

Just a few minutes ago she had been fine, and now suddenly she was in pain.

“Lily, stay with me,” he said, his voice tight with fear. “Just breathe, okay?”

Lily’s face had gone pale. She pressed her hand over her stomach and curled slightly on the bed.

“It hurts…” she whispered weakly, tears still sliding down her cheeks. “It really hurts…”

David knelt beside her again, trying hard to stay calm even though his chest felt like it was on fire. “Don’t talk. I’ll call the doctor,” he said, dialing the number with shaking hands.

Lily’s eyes filled with panic as she saw the red stain spreading. Her breathing grew faster, her chest tightening as fear took over. “No… David… no…” she cried, her voice breaking.

David’s heart sank. He could feel his whole body shaking. He didn’t even understand what was happening why she was bleeding so much, why everything felt like a nightmare.

“Shh… don’t panic,” he whispered close to her ear, holding her tightly, his voice cracking. “I won’t let anything happen to you. I promise.”

But when he looked down again, her eyes had closed.

“Lily?” he called softly. “Lily, open your eyes.”

She didn’t respond. Her head fell slightly to the side, her body completely limp in his arms.

“No… no, Lily!” David’s voice broke. Tears filled his eyes before he even realized it. His chest hurt so badly it felt like he couldn’t breathe either. Losing her, even the thought of it was something he couldn’t bear.

“Please, open your eyes,” he said shakily, his voice full of pain. He shook her gently, but she didn’t move.

The elevator doors finally opened with a loud sound. Without wasting a second, David ran out. His mind had already stopped working, he couldn’t think of anything, only that he had to save her.

He didn’t remember how he reached the car, how he opened the door, or how he drove. Everything happened in a blur. His hands were still covered in her blood, his heart beating faster with every second.

All he knew was that Lily was in his arms, silent and pale, and he couldn’t lose her.
