My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 205

Her lips curved into a soft, sleepy smile.

“Who are you…?” she mumbled, her voice slurred. “You look… so handsome.”

David stopped walking for a second, staring down at her. Her fingers rose slowly and brushed against his cheek. The warmth of her touch sent a shiver through him.

“Lily,” he said quietly, almost a growl. “Look carefully. Who is it?”

But she only giggled weakly, like a child, her hand still resting against his face. “Hmm… handsome man…” she whispered before her eyes slowly closed again, her head dropping against his chest.

David exhaled sharply, his jaw tightening even more. He looked down at her sleeping face, half angry, half helpless. Then he opened the car door and placed her gently inside, fastening the seatbelt.

“Foolish woman,” he muttered under his breath, brushing away the last trace of her tears from her cheek before getting into the car.

The road ahead was quiet, only the sound of the car’s engine filling the silence.

David’s grip on the steering wheel was firm, his eyes focused straight ahead. But beside him, Lily shifted a little, her lashes fluttering.

A soft groan escaped her lips as she turned her head toward him.

“Mmm…” she mumbled, her voice small and sleepy.

David glanced at her from the corner of his eye.

Lily blinked a few times, her vision hazy. Then, she squinted at him, her lips forming a pout.

“Where are you taking me, handsome?” she murmured, pressing her palms against her cheeks and peering at him through barely open eyes.

David’s heart skipped a beat. For a moment, his chest felt strange, warm and tight. She looked so… innocent, so unguarded. Her pouty face, that soft tone, he could feel his pulse rising, and for the first time in his life, his face flushed.

He quickly looked away, jaw clenching. “I’m taking you home,” he said, his voice rougher than usual.

“Home?” she repeated softly, tilting her head. “Whose home?”

“Yours,” he replied, his tone clipped.

She blinked again, confusion still painted on her face.

“Mine? Why?” Then she suddenly giggled, leaning her head against the seat. “Let’s go to yours instead… maybe we can have some fun,” she said playfully, her lips curving into a drunk smile.

David’s hands froze on the steering wheel. For a second, he couldn’t even breathe. His blood boiled. The car screeched to a halt at the side of the road. He unbuckled his seatbelt in one sharp move and turned toward her, his eyes burning.

He looked at her for a moment, his breath uneven. “Let’s go home,” he said coldly. “I’ll show you who I am.”

Without another word, he fastened his seatbelt and started the car again.

Lily sat quietly beside him, her heart pounding, her mind still foggy from the alcohol but not enough to miss his anger.

Her eyes slowly closed, and soon she drifted into sleep.

After some time, the car came to a stop. David stepped out, walked around to the other side, and opened the door. He bent down carefully, lifting her in his arms. She was light and quiet, her head resting against his shoulder. Without saying a word, he carried her up to her apartment.

He took the key from her bag, unlocked the door, and stepped inside. Once in the room, he laid her gently on the bed. She curled up, half asleep, her face pale and tired. David stood there, looking down at her. His face was unreadable, but deep inside, his mood was dark.

He loosened his suit and slowly unbuttoned his shirt, his chest tight with tension. He didn’t mean to do anything wrong, he only wanted to calm down, to forget everything for a moment.

Even in her sleep, Lily frowned slightly. She felt dizzy, her body heavy, her stomach turning from the drink and exhaustion. Her mind was foggy, and she could only lie there helplessly.

Her cheeks were wet from tears she didn’t even realize had fallen. Thinking about David’s cold attitude and his harsh words in past, she felt hurt and quietly sobbed. Sometimes, in moments like this, when people are most fragile, the truth in their hearts slips out.

David saw her crying and something inside him softened. He sighed, knelt beside the bed, and brushed her hair away from her face. He was about to lift her up to take her to the bathroom when he heard her mumble something faintly in her sleep.
