My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 237

They didn’t know how long the kiss lasted. It started slow, soft, almost unsure. Then it grew deeper, warmer, almost hungry. Like they were both trying to breathe after seven years underwater.

Lily didn’t even realize her eyes had closed. She only felt David’s hands on her, his breath mixing with hers, his body melting into her like he had been starving for this moment.

Then she heard a tiny gasp.

Her eyes flew open.

Her whole body froze.

Danish was standing by the door. His little hands were hanging on his sides, his eyes round like two big marbles, and his mouth open as if he forgot how to breathe.

“David… stop,” Lily whispered, patting his chest quickly, trying to push him away.

But David was too lost to feel anything except her.

“Hmm…” he growled against her lips, kissing her harder, as if afraid she would disappear if he let go.

“Danish,” Lily hissed and pushed him with all the strength she had. She jumped off his lap like the floor was on fire.

David blinked in confusion, still not fully back to his senses. But then he followed her gaze.

His face changed instantly.

Danish was still staring at them like he had just seen some forbidden scene.

“Did you guys make up?” Danish asked. His voice was tiny, confused, hopeful. He looked back and forth between his parents like he was waiting for some magic answer.

“Danish…” Lily stepped toward him, but David got up quicker.

“Yeah,” David said without even thinking.

Lily’s eyes shot at him like daggers. What the hell is he saying?

David ignored her look and gave her the most annoying proud smile. Then he walked straight to Danish, bending down to his level.

"Your mum forgave me,"David said gently. "We’re going to stay together now. Just how you wanted."

"David, what nonsense...." Lily snapped. She never said anything like that. This man was unbelievable.“When did I say that? Are you crazy?”

Danish didn’t look at her. His eyes were suddenly full of tears.

“Mum… I really want to be with Dad. Please don’t get angry,” he whispered, his voice shaking.

He hugged her waist tightly.

Lily’s heart twisted so painfully she almost dropped to her knees.

“Babe, listen,” she knelt down slowly, cupping his cheeks. “You can stay with your father. I never said you couldn’t.”

But that wasn’t what he wanted.

Danish’s tears spilled.

“I don’t want one,” he cried. “I want both of you. Everyone in school has a family. Why can’t I have? Mum, you never care about my feelings!”

And before Lily could even speak, he pushed her hands away and ran out of the room crying.

Lily stared at the door, stunned. Her heart cracked in a way she had never felt before.

Does he really think I don’t care about his feelings?

Her vision blurred. She tried to blink the tears away, but they fell anyway.

Her chest felt like someone stabbed her.

Her throat burned.

Her hands shook.

“Leave me,” Lily cried.

She struggled wildly, hitting his chest, trying to push him away.

“Leave me!” Lily shouted. Her voice cracked, trembling. “Leave me alone! It’s all because of you!”

“I know,” David whispered, holding her tighter when she pushed harder. “I know… I’m sorry.”

He wrapped his arms around her like he was holding something fragile that could shatter any second.

She fought and fought until her strength gave out. Her fists slowed. Her breaths came in sharp gasps.

David pressed his face into her hair, his voice low, shaking.

“Lily… please calm down. I’m here. I’m not letting go.”

David murmured. He rubbed her back in slow circles, trying to soothe her shaking body.

And Lily, finally, broke down in his arms. She buried her face in his chest, crying harder, shaking and hurting and confused.

"You should go to Danish." Lily whispered between her shaky breaths. Her cheeks were wet and streaked. Even in the middle of her own hurt, she kept thinking about her son.

David pulled back a little and held her face with both hands. His palms were warm on her skin. "Look at me," he said softly while wiping her tears with his thumbs.

Lily lifted her eyes. They were swollen and red.

"I know you think I'm selfish," he said, voice low. "But you mean more to me than anything. Even more than our son."

There was something strange in his eyes. A deep, sharp possessiveness that made Lily blink in confusion.

"What?" she said, frowning. She didn’t understand what he meant.

"I know I hurt you before. I treated you like nothing. I didn’t see your worth. But from now on, you come first. Always. I’m serious." His voice was calm but firm. "I won’t let anything or anyone touch you again."
