My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 241

They spent the whole day in the amusement park. Danish and Nini never stopped running around, laughing, pointing at things, and dragging Lily and Noah from one ride to another. By late afternoon, Lily was tired but happy. Watching Danish smile so much always made her heart feel full, even if she had her own worries pushing at the back of her mind.

After they finished the last snack and took a few photos, they finally walked toward the parking area. The sun was lowering, warm and golden, and Lily held Danish’s hand while he talked non-stop about the pirate ship ride.

Then suddenly Danish stopped talking. His eyes widened. He gasped loudly.

“Dad!”

Before Lily even reacted, Danish dropped her hand and ran straight ahead.

Lily froze for a second. She followed his gaze. David stood near the entrance, hands in his pockets, watching them with a calm face.

Danish ran straight into his arms. David bent down and lifted him easily. Danish laughed like he just found the best surprise in the world.

Lily swallowed. That tiny sting in her chest came again. She tried to smile. She didn’t want Danish to see her hurt. But Noah noticed right away.

“You don’t have to feel bad,” Noah whispered quietly, leaning close. “Danish just met him. He’s excited. It’s normal.”

“I know,” Lily answered softly. She looked away like she didn’t care, but the little twist inside her was still there. She wished she didn’t feel like that, but she did.

David put Danish on his feet and then looked at Lily. “What are you doing here? And how did you know we’re here?” Lily asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

Before David answered, four bodyguards stepped forward from nearby, the ones assigned to follow Lily everywhere. They had been keeping their distance inside the park, but now they came closer as they saw David.

Lily’s face turned dark immediately. She gave him a sharp, angry look. Her jaw tightened. Her eyes narrowed like she wanted to throw her shoe at him.

David lifted his eyebrows in a challenging way, like he didn’t mind provoking her. In fact, he almost looked like he enjoyed seeing her angry.

She gritted her teeth, but she didn’t say anything because Danish was right there, holding onto David’s sleeve happily.

“Mum invited us for dinner,” David said, ruffling Danish’s hair. “So I came to pick you and Danish.”

Just hearing the word Mum made Lily pause. Her heart softened a little. Olivia. She hadn’t visited Olivia since coming back. She should have gone earlier.

Noah saw that small change in Lily’s expression and smiled softly.

Noah didn’t comment, only placed a hand lightly on her arm before walking toward the car.

“You go ahead,” Noah said, pushing her sunglasses up. “Me and Nini are having dinner with James. She hasn’t seen him properly all week.”

James was Noah’s husband. Lily nodded. “Alright then.”

Danish turned to Nini. “Bye, Nini.”

Nini waved with a small smile. “See you tomorrow.”

David opened the car door. Danish climbed in happily, settling in the back seat. Lily stood there for a moment, looking at him and then looking at David.

David waited for her, his expression unreadable but his presence heavy, like he always filled the whole space around her without trying.

Lily breathed out and walked toward the car.

“You don’t have to. Your face already says everything.”

David shook his head with a smile and focused on the road. The car settled into a comfortable silence after a while. Danish hummed something in the back seat, tapping his shoes on the floor.

Lily looked out of the window, trying to calm her thoughts. She should be used to this by now. David always took over without asking. He always did things as if he had every right. And she always let him, because of Danish. That was what she kept telling herself.

David glanced at her from the corner of his eye. “You’re quiet.”

“Do I need your permission to be quiet now?”

“No.” His voice was calm. “But I can tell when you’re annoyed.”

She didn’t answer.

He tapped the steering wheel lightly with his thumb. “I didn’t bring them to bother you.”

“You always say that,” Lily replied. “And yet they always follow me.”

“They follow you because I don’t trust the people around you.”

“Just say you don't trust me.”

David didn’t deny it. “Sometimes, yes.”

She closed her eyes for a second, controlling her breath. She didn’t want to argue in front of Danish.
