My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 253

Lily’s eyes snapped open. Fear vanished. Only pure instinct remained.

“Don’t you touch my son.”

One of the men stepped forward and kicked her in the side. The chair toppled. Lily hit the floor with a hard thud, rope digging into her skin. Pain shot through her whole body. She gasped, curling in as much as the rope allowed.

“You still dare to shout at the boss?” he growled. He kicked her again, this time in the stomach. Tears blurred her vision. No one cared. No one even flinched.

“Enough,” Marina snapped. “I’m not done.”

She crouched beside Lily, grabbed a fistful of her hair, and yanked her head up. Lily winced, her sight swimming.

“I never understood what he saw in you,” Marina said. The calm in her voice was worse than the shouting. “He stayed untouched for seven years. Do you know how insane that is? For a man like him?”

Lily stared, breath shaking, unable to process what she was hearing.

“Seven years ago,” Marina whispered close to her ear, “I drugged him. Gave him enough to knock out a horse. And even then, even half-conscious, he kept saying your name.”

She jerked Lily’s hair harder. Lily bit back a cry.

“He cried for you for seven years. Now I’ll make him cry forever. He chose you? Fine. I’ll take you out of this world. Let’s see who he has left to wait for.”

Marina slammed Lily’s head against the floor. The impact exploded in Lily’s skull. Her ears rang. Her vision flickered.

Then a sound tore through the room.

A gunshot.

Everyone froze.

The men looked toward the entrance. Marina stood up fast, breath sharp.

“Someone’s here!” one man shouted. “I think we’ve been found!”

Footsteps thundered in the hall. Fast. Determined. Not hiding.

Through her blurry vision, Lily saw a tall figure step into the doorway.

Her breath broke.

“David…”

She didn’t know if it was truly him or her mind trying to save her, but his name slipped out before she could stop it.

David stood in the doorway, frozen for a breath. His eyes locked on Lily lying on the floor, her body tied to the broken chair, her face swollen and smeared with blood. Something snapped inside him. His breath tightened, his jaw clenched so hard it hurt.

His gaze shifted from Lily to Marina. The sharpness in his eyes could cut steel. His whole body went still, deadly still.

Jabco and Riyana rushed past him.

“Lily!” Jabco dropped to his knees. Riyana was already cutting the ropes with a knife she kept hidden in her boot. Her hands moved fast but careful, almost shaking.

Marina’s men tried to escape through the back, but Roy entered with armed police and Hardison bodyguards. Their boots thundered across the floor. The men barely made it two steps before being slammed to the ground. Police cuffed them without hesitation.

Marina stood frozen, her face pale. She never expected this. She planned everything so perfectly. She thought she had hours before anyone found this place. How did they get here so fast?
