My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 26

Lily had no idea that gossip about her was already spreading like wildfire on the internet.

The pictures with Evan, laughing at a street vendor, hiding from his fans, and walking side by side in the bustling tourist streets were being shared across gossip pages, fan accounts, and entertainment blogs. But Lily wasn’t the type to constantly check her phone for trending news, so she remained blissfully unaware.

The next morning, she woke up early in her hotel room, the light seeping in through the sheer curtains. The faint sound of traffic drifted up from the street below. She stretched lazily before forcing herself out of bed. After a quick shower, she dressed in a simple but elegant outfit cream blouse tucked into tailored navy trousers and tied her hair back in a neat low ponytail.

She glanced at her watch; she had just enough time to grab a light breakfast before heading to meet her client.

Her schedule was packed, but she didn’t mind. Designing was her passion, and traveling for work gave her a sense of freedom. She took the elevator down to the hotel lobby, humming softly to herself, but the moment she stepped out through the glass doors, something in the air shifted.

It was subtle at first just a prickling sensation along her neck, the kind you get when you know someone’s eyes are on you. She glanced around casually.

The sidewalk was busy with tourists, businesspeople, and locals rushing to start their day. No one seemed out of place. Still, she couldn’t shake the feeling.

Maybe I’m just imagining things, she thought.

The uneasy sensation followed her all day. Even when she was sitting across the polished mahogany table from her client, discussing fabric samples and delivery schedules, she caught herself glancing toward the window more than once. In the quiet moments between conversations, she swore she could feel someone nearby watching.

By the time she finished the meeting, the sun had already started to dip, painting the streets in a warm orange glow.

Her client’s office was in an older part of the city, lined with narrow alleys and vintage street lamps that would flicker to life soon. She hailed a taxi, hoping to get back to the hotel quickly and shake off the strange feeling.

The ride was uneventful. But as soon as she stepped out in front of the hotel, the prickling sensation returned sharper this time.

Her pulse quickened. She tightened her grip on her bag and quickened her pace toward the entrance.

She didn’t even make it halfway before a figure suddenly stepped out from behind one of the stone pillars near the gate.

Lily froze.

It was a young woman, probably in her early twenties, with messy hair and wild eyes that burned with something Lily couldn’t quite name. The stranger’s hands trembled, but her voice was loud and cutting.

“You...." she spat, taking a step forward. “You’re the reason he won’t even look at us anymore!”

Lily blinked in shock, her mind racing.

“Evan…” The girl’s lip curled. “He’s perfect, and you’re just—” She looked Lily up and down with contempt.

“You don’t deserve to be anywhere near him!”

It clicked then, Evan’s fan. The kind of fan who didn’t just admire from afar but clung to an image of him so tightly that anyone else’s presence felt like an insult.

The girl lunged forward, her hand swinging up as if she meant to slap Lily.
