My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 357

Outside the ward, the hallway felt colder.

Cristo was standing there.

Of course he was.

The moment she saw him, her frustration doubled. Her jaw tightened. Jabco might have left, but his shadow hadn’t. Cristo standing there felt like proof that she wasn’t free. That she couldn’t even walk alone without someone watching.

Cristo noticed the change in her expression immediately. He straightened slightly, unsure whether to speak or stay silent.

Riyana didn’t say a word.

She walked past him.

Cristo followed.

They moved through the corridor, the sound of their footsteps echoing softly. Nurses passed by. A patient coughed somewhere. The hospital carried on as usual, unaware of the storm brewing inside her chest.

As they stepped outside, Riyana slowed down.

Her eyes caught sight of something that made her stop.

Jabco.

He was standing near his car.

Rose was with him.

They were talking.

Riyana stayed where she was, watching from a distance. Her heart sank slowly, not suddenly. It wasn’t shock. It was something quieter. Something heavier.

Rose stood close to him, her posture open, confident. She was saying something, her expression bright, her hands moving slightly as she spoke. It looked like she was asking for something. Insisting on something.

Jabco shook his head.

Once.

Then again.

His face was serious. Firm.

He said something back. Calm and Controlled.

Rose’s smile faded for a second, then returned, forced this time. She said a few more words, then turned away sharply.

She got into her car.

The engine started.

She drove off without looking back.

Riyana watched the car disappear.

Only then did Jabco turn around.

And he saw her.

For a moment, everything else disappeared. The hospital building. The people around them. Even Cristo standing nearby.

His expression changed the moment their eyes met. The tension on his face softened.

His shoulders relaxed slightly. Without thinking, he started walking toward her.

Riyana also began to move.

Jabco thought she was coming to him.

For a second, hope flickered inside his chest.

Then she walked past him.

Straight past him.

She didn’t look at him.

She didn’t slow down.

She acted as if he didn’t exist.

The hope shattered.

“Riyana.”

He reached out and grabbed her elbow.

Not roughly. Not gently either.

Enough to stop her.

She stopped walking but didn’t turn around. Her face was burning with anger. Her breathing was shallow. Her hands clenched into tight fists at her sides.

Jabco noticed that.

He didn’t speak immediately.

He held her elbow and tried to guide her toward his car, wanting to talk somewhere private.

She reacted instantly.

She jerked her arm away.

“Don’t touch me,” she snapped, finally turning to face him.

Her eyes were sharp and cold.

Jabco stopped.

He turned fully toward her, his own expression tight.

“I’m sorry,” he said after a moment. “I know you’re angry. But please try to understand.”

He paused, choosing his words carefully.

“I just want to make things easier. I want you to tell your mother about us. That’s all.”
